Gohar, I wish to thank you very much for sharing the score's corrections. The corrected version makes indeed much greater sense. BTW, I love your interpretation :-)

Learned this from start to finish last year but had to give up on it due to left hand pain. Restarted recently and had to stop again. It's genuinely a killer on the left hand.

Thanks a lot, I never heard such a crystal-clear explanation of the intrinsic "difficulty" of certain keys. Also, labeling the piece as advanced makies me feel a bit better: I was given the piece at the end of my second year (>20 years ago), and still physically remember the pain and soreness in my left hand from working it at the time... such an endurance test piece for a beginner! :)

Thank for for this great lesson of Rodrigo Riera's Preludio Criollo. I had the pleasure of studying under Reira in the late 1960s when he lived in New York City. Many lessons were devoted to building velocity, clarity and high performance standards. I recall we would start each lesson playing scales (Segovia scales) Riera would speed up the scales to an incredibly fast pace, always playing relaxed. Riera in concert would warmup after the first few pieces, then play at remarkable fast tempi as his hands floated across the fretboard. His tone was warm with emotional expressiveness and strength. In Preludio Criollo your observation to play the melody (6/8) makes sense. I'll add with rest stroke when possible. Beautiful performance and lesson, thank you. SC

I played this piece many years ago and somehow forgot about it. After listening to your video, I had to find that music sheet and play it again... Many thanks Gohar! I personally play it slower but your interpretation is also beautiful.

great clip , I am having issues with the chord at @0:54 (performance video) , are you barring the notes A ad D ? The notation I have says to play just the d, but I find this chord shape incredibly hard to place
@GoharVardanyan3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, I'm getting the right spot you're asking about. There is no bar at 0:54... there is a bar chord where the descending bass line is right before that, but after that right at 0:54 I don't have a bar. And yes, that chord is not comfortable.

The original version makes sense, and sounds better (to my ears). Will be back to this video. Gotta get the written version so i can follow better... But, of i can't reach the longest stretch, i'll be a mere listener.

I came across the score for this piece assuming it was very easy, because it was all the same arpeggio pattern all along. Now I'm struggling with this little monster.
