govt says by adding ethanol to petrol the carbon emission is reduced but in the process of fermentation of sugarcane to ethonol enormous amount of co2 is released than the combustion of petrol because the entire sugar cane juice is not going to be converted into ethanol right and finally as you said this addition of ethanol is done only in a economic point of view i think.

For every one litre petrol 10 ml is replaced by ethanol. How much sugarcane is needed to manufacture this ethanol? If cost of exporting Sugar is less than what we pay for that 10 ml oil ... Then India will benefit. Let's say we are getting 2 dollars while exporting and to get the oil we spend 5 dollars... that way it will be better if we use the sugarcane to manufacture ethanol

According to me it is a blunder by our government: 1. There are many reports saying that it reduces the mileage by around 7-8%. Net net it is a loss for the consumers like us. 2. Though the carbon amounts are reduced while burning who will count the CO2 released during production. 3. Ethanol gives out small amounts of water while burning which have even bent the pistons in vehicles and have corroded the engine and piston linings. It questions the durability of our engines. 4. People have done dyno tests with Ethanol blended fuel and have found reduced HP and Torque 5. Lastly, as mentioned in the video how long will it be feasible? What will happen to the sugarcane prices? And Government just decided that it will increase the Ethanol percentage to 20% in the near future! Now my question is: 1. Does the Speed petrol have Ethanol blended fuel? 2. Do non government owned brands like Shell and Nayara have Ethanol blended fuel?
