Didn't help me much, I'm looking to find more information on what the settings are and how they effect the keying. You're just sliding them back and forth without explaining what threshold and cutoff even means. Do you know or are you just playing around with them hoping something works?

Amanda, Thanks for your comment. When I do this apart from a tutorial I find myself being somewhat subjective. Part of it depends on the subject and the background. For example, it's much more difficulty with a model with light colored hair. Or it's more complex when you have similar colors elsewhere in the frame. I'm sure there are those who can show you much more then I can. But it may not always be mathematical, if that is the kind of adjustment you are looking for. Sorry this was not helpful for you. --Jim

@@SharperTurtle Finally found the answer to my question in case anyone else is wanting to know this too... Threshold Sets the level of blue or green that determines transparent areas in the clip. Dragging the Threshold slider to the left increases the amount of transparency. Use the Mask Only option to view the black (transparent) areas as you move the Threshold slider. Cutoff Sets the opacity of the nontransparent areas that the Threshold setting specifies. Dragging the Cutoff value to the right increases the opacity. Select the Mask Only option to view the white (opaque) areas as you drag the Cutoff value. Smoothing Specifies the amount of anti-aliasing (softening) applied to the boundary between transparent and opaque regions. Choose None to produce sharp edges, with no anti-aliasing. This option is useful when you want to preserve sharp lines, such as those in titles. Choose Low or High to produce different amounts of smoothing.

Do you have a Mac or PC? And do you know if the application differs on one or the other? Thanks!!
@SharperTurtle4 жыл бұрын
You should be able to do this on either platform. Some of the keyboard combinations will be different, but the process should not change between an Apple computer and a Windows based computer. These exercises were recorded using a Windows system. --Jim

I'm embarrassed when I use the wrong word like that and miss it in editing. Thanks for alerting me to the goof! Unfortunately, I can't edit the video and load it to the same URL. The only way to make changes is to remove the first one and replace it, which can be problematic. --Jim
