He's the nicest dude you could ever meet, extremely humble about his own success, and will gladly spend time with his fans given the opportunity. I’m not the biggest fan of Guthrie because I’m a blues and classic rock guy… but I truly believe IMO is he is the greatest living guitarist and maybe even the GOAT because of his technical ability and versatility to play any style and do it at the highest level. Humble living legend with such a likeable personality
@philgallagher12 жыл бұрын
Agreed (although I am a HUGE fan!). The thing nobody really comments about is that 80% of what he plays live is IMPROVISED. They have a start that is planned, and an end goal, but the bit in the middle is almost always made up on the spot. In my opinion he is clearly the best there has ever been. I say that because he can play EVERYTHING the greats played (Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Beck, Gilmour etc. etc.) as well as, if not better than, they did, and on top of that he also has his own style that is so far ahead of today's guitarists. Now that he's discovered "Digital" music, I'm quite scared to see where he goes next!

I’ve always Aspired to do this - I was music director for an amateur stage musical at an anime convention, of all places - and so I made sure every single instrument had a consistent DI feed, with a small speaker onstage for stage sound. That saved us so much time & headache, on what was already a very technically complex production for a bunch of Mostly Cosplayers, and the sound guy was v pleased. Ya got some musicians lookin out for y’all - being able to tell them “I only need One DI into the soundboard for my signal” is one of my fav things about gig setup now

He's one of the rare cases where a modeling rig actually makes more sense. Guthrie can just vibe in any style so fluidly that a rig that can do this much without a fridge full of racks probably makes touring better in every way for him.
