Keep finding these damn videos that already have a nice lawn started. I have an acre that’s been neglected for decades i have ankle breaking holes and lumps. Idk if they had a dog digging holes or what i even found old square post holes. I also have a leech field so no large tractors or land movers. Think this lawn is going to take several seasons to fix.

1: Urine is a very good and free lawn fertilizer. I saw it particularly when a hose broke on my urine spreader. A couple weeks later it looked like our tall grass was three times higher than the rest and a very dark green colour, so diluting it is key. 2: If you have more of a meadow type lawn where you want ho preserve the biodiversity you can remove the top layer, fill in underneath and roll the top layer back. Or fill with very thin layers of soil over several years.

I’ve followed pretty much all of your videos and gone from what looked like corn stubble to a deep green, soft lawn. Now I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of lawncare, I’m seeing how bumpy my lawn is. My question is; it seems in my case that it would be less work to “cut off” the tops of bumps rather that fill in the rest of the lawn. Is this something that can be done?

@Premier_lawns_official Жыл бұрын

Another thing to do, especially if you plan to re-sod your lawn, or otherwise replace it, is to tear out all the grass, mulch it all, and then take the bare ground and level it out by spreading the existing soil evenly (while accounting the need for good drainage). Shouldn't need as much soil, unless it's just a really bad lot to begin with and you have to add a lot just to get a good slope to prevent flooding. Then put down whatever you want for your ground-cover/lawn, and should be all good. I'm not a fan of patch jobs or "mods". If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it from scratch, most likely...and do it very carefully. If I'm going to spend any amount of time or effort on something, I'm going to make sure it gets done right the first time. I HATE (vilolently so) repeating tasks.
@bibirinalducci9850 Жыл бұрын
That's what I was wondering! Cause I have a ALL BUMPY garden, and if I used this method in the video for all and each bumps, I would die of age, cause it would be such a long process and also pricey, adding a very big amount of new soil! If is a matter of one or maximum 2 bumps then I would go for this method, but for a very uneven garden ground is not the best solution I believe...Am I right?
@petey611 Жыл бұрын
That's good for you and probably the right way to go. I'm new at this so I'm thinking about doing just sections at a time i.e. backyard, side, front yard. And repeat like every year until it's all good

Thanks for the vid. Topsoil is better than sand ? Another question : is a drag mat usefull for this kind of job ? Thanks
@Premier_lawns_official2 жыл бұрын
A lawn lute is the best tool for this job, you can of course still use a drag mat

What should I do if the lawn is way taller than the curb that you can see the soil between the curb and grass? Should I redo the whole lawn?
@Premier_lawns_official Жыл бұрын
If it was me, I would lower that part of the lawn if it was really bothering me. Redoing an entire lawn seems like a lot of work

Great video. If you put the soils little by little over the time, can grasses grow long enough eventually so that you don't have to seed again?
@Premier_lawns_official2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do that 🙂 👌👍

Hi, this might not be the right platform to ask this question, but here goes. My garden is really uneven, I want even it up as cheaply as possible(it currently has patchy grass), I can get hold of fresh horse manure, can I just throw that on and keep leveling it, or will burn the growing grass?
@Premier_lawns_official2 жыл бұрын
Horse manure won't do it. Chances are it will burn the lawn. But that's not the main reason for NOT using it. Horse manure will break down over time and your lawn won't get any more level, it may end up worse if anything

My new build back garden slopes down on one side, how can I make it level? Thanks.
