I've had a husky mower now for 3 years and it's been one of my best ever buys. With working during the week, getting time to cut a large lawn was always a hassle, weather watching, what to do with all the cuttings, lawn mower maintenance etc. The robot mower does the cutting now, and at the weekends I've now got the time to do things like aerating, scarifying and over seeding. So thanks to my robot, my garden looks so much better than it did before as it affords me the time to take proper care of it.

My experience with robot mowers is worse than what you said. It essentially worsenes the workload especially with lateral growth and weed grasses. That is why after two years of being happy with it I got rid of it. My lawn was essentially a mess of poa triv and clover. Eventhough I verticuttet regularly I could not stop the issues. I switched to a rider that bags the clippings and the problems are essentially gone for 3 years now. I still do verticut and overseed once a year but not out of necessity.

I have a robot mower, its pretty good. Sure, I've had some issues with the boundary wire failing, but it was only when it was offline for a few weeks that I remembered just how much I hate cutting with a normal electric mower, its a miserable job. I do still have to strim, and totally agree that you still need to aerate and scarify. But those are kinda the fun jobs. Mowing every 5-10 days is just dull, I'd rather being playing with the kids or something.

What about for someone like me though, I have a tiny, and very badly kept lawn, the trouble for me is that I have quite a nasty grass allergy. It takes me 10 minutes to mow and strim my lawn, but that 10 minutes involves tissues having to be stuffed up my nose, to stop my nose from running all over my clothes, insanely itchy eyes, and gasping for air as my throat tightens up. I'm pretty good again half an hour or so after a shower, but I'll still have an itchy throat and mucus build up. I don't want to have to scarify my lawn because I think that would be just as bad for me as mowing it, but I'd rather suffer once a month, from cleaning the mower, than every week for most of the year. I wouldn't have much luck with hiring a gardener because with how small my garden is, it just wouldn't be worth their time.

Lawn was great. sandy red soil, mostly quartz, bunch of mediterranean oaks and yews all round. zero maintenance great for kids, nice little flowers...Then i lived in france with a high clay loam, 100% nice lawn except where the cars went and in high traffic. i never heard of so much lawn maintenance. i was amazed. why can't the thatch decompose and become lawn food? why don't the bugs and the worms and mushrooms decompose it so it has to come out?

Just pay someone for your home. No worries about the weather, no worries about charging or fuel, no space taken, no cleaning, no maintanance, no worries about warranty, don't need yet another thing to take up space when storing, no sharpening blades, no edging (which requires another purchas and maintanance, not paying from around $700 to $5,000 plus and your high priced mower will get old withing a year and somehow a new and improved mower is on the scene that you missed out on. My point: you work hard for your money. Let your hard earned money do the work for you. You get edging, mowing and blowing out the debris. Why not come home and it's done? When it's hot out, why not stay in your air conditioned home and relax after working all day? Your shed or garage has space from a lawn mower/edger and blower. All these together costs money and they get old. Paying someone will never get old and they do everything. Nobody is paying you to come home and work right after working all day for pay. Your mind is at ease and your back and body don't get sore from all that work. There is absolutley NO NEED for any so called auto mower for the money and precision you get for paying someone to do ALL that work for you. There's more but you get my point. I get mine done since 2010 and wouldnt change it a bit. We even donated our Toro and edger since then. But the downside of this is I actually have to pick up a pen and sign a check to mail. Which is more back breaking? Pushing a pen or spending 3 or more hours fiddling around with any mower and lawn care? And, it costs less over all. Please don't tell me you can't afford lawn service if you can afford all that equipment that all need maintaining.

A robot lawnmower is a huge advantage and a relief from having to mow lawns. Imagine working from Monday to Saturday and having to mow the lawn every week on Sunday, what if it rains on Sunday? Are you going out in the rain to mow with a conventional mower? On the other hand to the gardeners who charge loads of money for mowing every week or 2 times a month. The prices that our customers announce for mowing the lawn just damn well justify the lawnmower as an option for mowing the lawn. The robot does its job to mow 1mm of the grass every day and thus make "green fertilization". Conventional lawnmowers mow large grass, which must then be collected and disposed of somewhere.

Aerating, scarifying and feeding, -my arse. What a lot of work you give yourself for nothing! You don't need any of it and I expect a decent lawn robot would be bothered either . Grass grows thick and lush if you just cut it and let the clippings spray out the back of the mower, all over the lawn. The clippings soon disappear and they feed the lawn and the worms etc love the clippings and the birds love the worms. The best part is driving around on your ride-on mower. The secret is to buy a mower that will do your size of lawn within half a about hour so you don't get bored. Then you have plenty of time to sit back with a coffee and admire your handiwork.

I was wondering what this was about i could care less about my lawn. I'm still debating on either gallons of bleach so i didn't have to mow again or a robot mower one or the other.

Great vid Robbie and nice shout out to wee Ben "Lawn Tips" down under, its great what he is doing in his plot. Personally I think there is nothing better than standing back looking at your own handy work on the lawn. Robot mower is not for me, personal choice. Plus we wouldnt see cracking content like this from you Lol. Keep up the great work.

Ben's channel is awesome, if I had a large lawn, I can certainly see the benefits of having a robot mower, though I know that's not for everyone. Thanks for the comments Fin :)

@@OorOaksey Thanks! Ben is like myself, professionally trained. I try and keep it simple, light-hearted and probably a bit unconventional at times too.

As an actual lawn care professional: Robot mowers are great and will give you a way better result over hand mowing. Oh btw, if there is no thatch, why do you do a thatch away scarification? Scamming customers into paying you to do unnecessary work maybe? Start selling and installing robomowers and stop fighting better technology. Adapt or fail. No scare mongering, lies or scams will keep you in business🙄

Hi John, Oddly enough, we scarifed this last year. Guess what, the client has us booked again for this year Why bother with selling installs, the market has already moved past that. Unless your a spark and can do the electrics Installs are only needed the older type of robots, who is scamming who here? We have many clients who have robot mowers, I agree it is the future but lawns still need to be maintained to be at their best. Now, please, off you go, as no one likes a troll.

Totally agree with you about your comments on robot lawnmowers I have been using one for four years and one of the features that really annoys me is the compaction it causes. It is quite a heavy unit with its batteries and motor and it sits on a pair of hard narrow wheels which power it and a small roller that acts as a skid when turning. Because it is programmed to operate on certain days and I am lazy, it is often working in rain and on wet ground, and the top couple of inches gradually gets more and more compacted. My lawn is only 400Msq and I occasionally use an electric rotary mower to clear the thatch that forms. I wouldn't get another one.
