RIVERFRONT BACKYARD BUILD Pt 6 - Deck Sleeper System and Deck Lighting

In this episode we are continuing this backyard makeover with a decking sleeper system over a concrete porch. We are also starting to install the deck lighting on all of our stair risers. This project has a covered porch with a concrete slab and since it is covered, we have been only working on it during rain days to keep us moving. We make great progress installing the decking on the concrete porch and then we move on to the outdoor kitchen framing and installing the low voltage deck lighting on all of our stair risers. Next up on this backyard build is the paver patio so stay tuned!!

Does the sleeper system not need any path for water to drain out? Or do those pieces have weep holes/grooves underneath? I think I’d like to use something like that.

If possible run it with the direction of slope, but in this case it is underneath a covered porch so it won’t see any water

I wanted to use it on a stair rebuild I did recently and it absolutely did not want to stick. I assume due to the fact that PT lumber was moist. Any words of wisdom out of your own experience? Hey Sean how do you finish the front edge and fascia of the sleeper system? I’m trying to use that on my (covered) front porch slab instead of bluestone. And how are the sleepers attached to the concrete? Thanks for the great content! All of your work looks great

OMG, you guys are just where I am on my deck again! I'm scribing and coping my final deck boards to fit against a "stone" wall. I'm going to try to use a large washer to help scribe, it should be easier than a compass.
