We have the imagine 23LDE. We have this exact couch and I LOVE it. When we decided to replace our 20yo camper, we wanted recliners instead of the jack knife sofa which is like a futon, uncomfortable couch by day, VERY uncomfortable bed by night! We also wanted a step in shower instead of bathtub. Plus being a fluffy person, I love the roomy bathroom. As to your question about the bedroom door, we love it mainly because the air flow from just opening the doors is usually perfect and easier than messing with the windows. I love the frosted glass in the doors as well. Don't like door shades as you have to open the door to adjust them. This camper would work nicely if we still had kids. I do love Grand Design and look forward to seeing more of their units. 👍

Bought one 2 weeks ago and really like it so far. A solar prep with inverter option would have been great. Don't mind not having the bedroom access in road mode because the bunks are very big. Also would have like to see the bunk option like the Ember's have where the space could be converted into a small office.

Came to the comments for this, the Ember office conversion in the master is more important to me than the full size queen. Because then I’d option the dinette. I can get work done while camping. If one of the kids needs a place to decompress. That’s a good option.

I feel like every RV now should have everything wired to solar as an option to it, with full inverter and solar prepped with an option to do some expandable options on ground level. That bunk lifting up makes the bunk area perfect for storing a deployable solar field for some extended boondocking.

I really would love to see the TV mounted lower with storage cabinets over it. Excellent sofa. Great large bunks with the fold up but the bunk area is better when they make it easy to use the bottom bunk area as a desk, just a little flip out piece in the back could make that happen for a wrap around desk! 50amp and solar prep and carpetless would be nice. The rest of this is great!

@@JoshtheRVNerd YES!! YES!! I don’t understand why grand design is behind the times when it comes to solar off grid camping.. The new AIM Series has the AIM package which has a 2000 W inverter and a extra 200 watt panel on the roof.. but why does grand design skip out on the imagine, and the imagine XLS series? They could at least make those series inverter prep.
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
@@Bronco2Cj I can actually tell you why because I asked this very question when I was there They're good partners to their MFG'ing suppliers. In this case Furrion Furrion bought WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many of those 165w panels and had nowhere for them to go. GD opt'd to spend a year with a lackluster solar package to help furrion thru the times and in return will be getting a sweet setup on a better package in future seasons which is already in the works.

@@JoshtheRVNerd Josh, I just heard a fat and nasty rumor after I asked you the first question.. Grand Design is coming out with a "inverter prepped" version of the 17MKE and also "inverter prepped" versions of other rigs in their imagine and imagine XLS line... not sure how true this is but if this is true, that would be awesome.. however your answer to my first question makes sense. I appreciate it.

I have a 2018 version and love it. These updates are really great. I would prefer no carpet, but definitely prefer the dinette. That as an additional sleeping space has been fantastic. I love Grand Design! Love their color scheme (so so on that cream stripe on cabinets). They sure do rock the storage in almost every trailer. Love how open these bunks are, no claustrophobia happening there. Love the bathroom and the space around the toilet. Agree with you Josh that GD does some of the best storage around the bed of just about anyone. Thankyou Grand Design for letting Josh film all these. Cant wait to see which AIM models you were able to film. Really hope you have the AIM 16ML Love the style of pull handles too. This would be a great option for families. Too big for me but i loved it. I dont always watch the bunk house models but love this one. Also you can NEVER have too much solar. Especially if mfgrs continue to push 12v frig. I would love to have a 12-volt fridge because it really seems like they work much better, but I Rely strictly on solar to charge my batteries and do not want to have to resort to a generator. I camp in State Forest Campgrounds that have no electricity no water hookups and you dump your tanks on the way out When I finally buy my my next trailer, I will be adding a lot of lithium batteries and making sure I have Max solar

I was so torn with the potential for recliners vs. the U dinette in this (non-bunk) floorpan. I love to recline and watch TV in the evenings, even when camping, BUT I have a daughter who camps with me and who has autism. I wanted to have a proper place for her to sit and eat her meals, if we couldn't eat outside. So, being a good mom, the kid won out over my fat butt's need to sit and recline. I did end up buying the Jay Feather 22b model, with the U dinette. I have yet to TRULY camp, but have spent time in the camper. You're right, the dinette is not exactly 'comfy' but I do like sitting there, drinking my coffee and checking out the news, etc in the morning. Also, I broke the dinette down into bed mode, added a thick piece of foam and my goodness! It is HUGE! I took measurements and it is EXACTLY the size of a true Twin XL bed (that's HALF of a TRUE KING SIZED BED!) VERY roomy and very comfy. My evening could be spend checking out the TV, laying on the comfy dinette bed. If I ever decide I need bunks, this is definitely a nice camper to consider. That extra height is absolutely needed for anyone older than a small child to not feel claustrophobic in those bunks. Love watching your videos Josh. Just bought your keychain, to hold the camper keys! Thank you!

We have a 2020 version of this exact trailer and you are absolutely correct. The U dinette is the worst to watch TV. We lived in it for7 month and we had to use pillows on the dinette seats just to be comfortable to watch TV. Grand Design installs the RV airflow system in all there trailers now. I installed one in that trailer and it made a 100% difference in the air flow to the bathroom. Wouldn't purchase any other brand. We purchased the Reflection 150 series fifth wheel where we currently live.

Hey Josh. It's been a while since I dropped a comment. Now you're not going to remember this, but back in 2019 I was hunting for an imagine 2150RB. And haylett didn't carry image back then. Glad to see you doing videos on them with bish. Concerning the question in the video. This is a matter near and dear to my heart. In my opinion, any camper period, but certainly any camper at this trim level, should come at least pre wired for an inverter. And preferably they should just be coming from the factory with at least a 1k inverter. And if not all, then sensible outlets should be connected to the inverter. Next to tvs, small refrigerators, headboards both sides, and next to dmsofa. These locations often could benefit from 12 to 120 volt power and tvs, small fridge units, laptops and phone chargers are not a huge draw. Especially with a let of two or four lithium batteries. They should all come with at least 1 200w solar panel and be pre-wired for one or two expansion panels. And they should all have a plug for a solar suitcase. Finally, they all should be lithium battery ready because at this trim level, once you discover how life changing lithium is, people never look back. I'm tired of hearing about price points. When you are paying 49 to 50k+ for an rv, these things are not extravagant features. How much could it possibly cost to include this stuff? Because taking on another 2k to have this come from the factory isn't going to prevent people from buying. 50 vs 52k. This is not changing people's minds. This all should be standard equipment. Rockwood Mini Lite 2511s does this very well. There are still a few tricks Rockwood is missing in my opinion. But all the good things are present. I'm pretty sure next year the 2150rb is going to be traded on a new Rockwood 2511s. Our image has been great. We have throughly enjoyed it. But the Rockwood is just a better rig.

I would like a King or Queen option, that can be interchanged, maybe at certain points I would want one or the other. Can they make a bedroom door option that has extra security (more dead bolts, even a metal bar…). I know RV’s are not Legos but I think manufacturers can simply make small adjustments that provide owner with many options. Rather than make so many different designs of basically the same trailer.

We just got a 2910BH last month, similar layout, but the bathroom is in the middle and we wanted more space for rainy pnw days 😂 We dont really use road mode but we would prefer some kitchen access like this and the bathroom over the bedroom access….. our model has two doors so we can get to the bed/bath from the bedroom door and maybe the fridge from the main door 😂 but we haven’t used it much yet…. In my humble opinion Uncle Josh if this was not a bunkhouse I would definitely want a 2nd door in the bedroom. My wife and I have talked about this and if we had to stop for the night enroute to our destination and could not put out the slide we would use the bunks for our beds. Granted we are looking for a couple's camper with that ability to bring the grand babies during breaks. I would also love to see it with a complete solar package including the inverter.

Great review! As 1 year old owner for 2400BH. I do feel it has pros and cons. Pros: 1. Great size bathroom and very comfortable. 2. Queen Size bed and bedroom offer much better privacy for parents. 3. Bunk bed ladder and bigger bunk is very comfortable. 4. Super big size gray water tank (90GAL front and back) Cons: 1. That super slide has Shintech Slide which cause it fail in quite many 2400BH. Really wish they have it Rack & Pinion Slide for that size. 2. TV location is a little bit high. 3. Wish they had Electric fire place under the TV 4. Wish they can combine two gray water tank (45 + 45) the back one with shower obviously filled up much quicker. I am towing with F150 Powerboost hybrid which produces 7.2KW with no sound very little gas so less power or battery capacity is total fine for me. I really like that feature on F150 Hybrid model. It is Boondocking heaven.

Really nice video, very playfully though :) you should really research the details on the Ranger... Ford specifically designed to be a serious towing machine for its class. I've been towing nearly the amount of the 2400BH amount for a year now thousands of miles and it is a champ with plenty of power to spare and Im going to buy this 2400BH and continue using the Ranger(It's outstanding) There are countless people doing more weightand one that's very popular on youtube has been towing a Surveyor weighing the same as this 2400BH and actually allot heavier hitch weight, and he's been doing it for about 3 years now and loves it because the truck works well when and when he's not towing. He's documented this fully over three years. Anyhow you asked a couple questions... I strongly prefer on this one the dinette simply because of having a place to not only eat but to work on computer, perhaps play cards, games etc... Having only a couch and 2 sets of bedding makes it too easy just to fall asleep all day, and like you said the dinette can configure into a good movie watching space and if its not too comfy... no problem just throw on some extra pillows/blankets. Secondly I like the carpet touch but not sure it would matter much either way. Further the specs on this say the dry weight is 5725 and if were to throw in about 700 lbs for gear and just a little fresh water (Which is all I need for 3 people)... that hits around 6400/6500 lbs and using much less than 90% of the towing capacity of the Ranger just to keep padding. I don't think many people go driving around past a mile at 5mph with completely full grey/black tanks other than to dump at the station upon leaving site, and adding up all the gear that we routinely need stored in the trailer barely adds up to less than 500lbs... Meaning I don't see people driving around in this thing loaded beyond 6800 lbs for any length of time needlessly simply due to full black/gray tanks. I wouldn't even if i had a huge Truck. Bottom line is if you keep to only 1000/1200 lbs or less of cargo on this 2400BH, the Ranger is still below fully utilized, and will handle it fine with the proper weight dist/loading. Now i'm only towing 4 times a year on any distance.... If i were towing all year long living completely abroad in an RV, i would buy a bigger truck but i would also buy a bigger trailer.

Went to the Hershey RV show this past fall to see the Grand Design display. Came away disappointed because the emergency bunk exit window on both half ton towable bunkhouses was right over the hot exhaust from the tankless waterheater and/or furnace. That seemed dangerous. I'm a safety first mom. However, this unit does not have that problem because of the campside only windows. I'll be putting this one on my list!

We were cross shopping this vs 2022 Jayco Whitehawk 25 MBH. Ended up going with the jayco as having the wall divider made a small space, an RV, into a divided, even smaller space. Most RVs have a separation, so that seems to be the way the market is trending, so finding one that wasn't was nice. Like the fit and finish. One thing about the Jayco is the design, not the layout, leaves something to be desired. Space behind panels where a cabinet could have gone, for example. As for this one, I'd go with the dinette. For rainy days, doing puzzles, having a meal with the kids that involves multiple plates of food, it's more functional. If we wanna hang out, there's the beds. Also, this RV does not have auto-down jacks. And, it really needs a back door for bikes, etc. They should have ditched the ladder- rarely used- and moved the spare tire over. Then a door could be installed. Then give people an extendible ladder for those once a year or so cleanouts. My 2 cents.

Grand Design if you’re listening….Someone in QC needs a set of eyes over their shoulder…and your assembly employees are doing great at what you can easily see. My rig had all kinds of issues that I repaired myself due to time and wanting it done correctly. Some of which were in areas that are covered and whoever did it knew it most likely wouldn’t be discovered for a long time…and for sure wouldn’t be discovered by management. Although I love my Imagine 2400 BH…it’s only after a year of fixing poor craftsmanship and making multiple personal mods that it’s now great! For everyone else…After 1 year….again I love it now…but LISTEN TO ME!!!! These RV manufacturers ultimately care about one thing and that’s the bottom line. 1. Get the brand and floor plan you REALLY want 2. Understand you WILL have to fix a bunch of crappy workmanship 3. Then…Have fun RVing
