Thanks Ian again for great comparison. Maybe do another one with features enabled. It would be nice to find out how "ANR" option would handle reverb in your kitchen or the noise outside.

Thanks Libor. The ANR only works on physical bumps from the camera or mounting, not on incoming sounds to the mic. I thought the same as you when I first saw ANR on the mic, and wondered how it differentiates between signal and surrounding noise …. The answer is, it doesn’t!! The Rode has all the features on the mic itself but the Joby needs the app to activate them. I think the Joby could be improved with a couple of physical switches so that changes can be made without the app. (For instance a high pass filter on/off)

Thank you Ian for this wonderful comparison of these microphones during practical use indoors and outdoors. Joby has put a nice innovation on the market with this product. It would be fantastic if they also integrate into the microphone an audio recorder with 48 kHz, 24 bit and a slate tone for synchronising the audio with the camera. May be the next step.... or an update?

Good comparison video, thanks for doing this. I listened to his video with AirPods Pro and I felt that Rode did a good job overall indoor and outdoor. The noise cancellations advertised with Joby doesn’t feel like it was superior than Rode. Than being said if anyone already have Rode then I feel in my opinion that there is no need to swap or upgrade to Joby, but if someone is entering new to the mic world then both are good option, but I would personally get Rode as it sounded better, but may be Joby for those who are considering for a smaller footprint?

A few people seemed to prefer the Rode, but I kind of honed in on the treble of the Joby giving great clarity. I could use either quite happily if I’m honest. Casey Neistat has been using a Joby mic for a little while now as well, I noticed. I’ve been using mine quite a lot recently and found it’s clarity worked really well on tv speakers. The Rode sounds more ‘chesty’ to me with more upper bass, so it sounds very impressive outside. It kind of sounds closer than it is and perhaps more studio type sound. I listened on headphones after seeing your comment and I must say, I thought the King Bee wasn’t doing so well in my box room as well!!!! I can happily use both camera mics though.

Hi Ian hope you're well, listening on my Tablet I think the Rode has a slight edge over the Joby and the Rode to me did a bit better in the wind, but to be honest they both sounded really good. Best wishes stay safe Jon

I like them both Jon, but for different reasons. The Rode is strong with directionality and wind resistance, but I do like the tone of the Joby.

Interesting, in my humble opinion , the RODE has an overall better sound, at least on my near field monitor speakers.
