Wanted to share this - I just got back from an annual state meeting with the national farm organization. They related to the delegates that farm income is down 23% over the past 2 years. This does NOT include devaluation of our dollar or the devastation from the drought this year. Also, for the first time in a generation, we are importing more food than exporting. This is a crisis.

MR. Good you got your work release. Helping neighbors is a good thing. My Brother and I would dip net a clean trash can of smelt back in the day. Had a whole processing line whole family pitched in. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins all stopped by for a couple of bags of smelt. Then we would distribute bags down the street to neighbors. From the 👍. Best

Good afternoon. Great discussion points as always brought up. Looking forward to the next live. One thing my father taught me is work ethic. He worked full time, had a part time job and did mechanic work and handy man work on the side which from the time I was old enough to hold a screwdriver or a wrench I was helping out. Taught me so much that I use today its immeasurable. Finally am at a point in my life I don't have to work multiple jobs when a good part of my life I had 2 or 3 which i am thankful for and blessed as it gives me time to work around the homestead. Keep praying for a full and quick recovery as always thank ya for sharing and y'all have a blessed day.

Got a couple of feet of snow last week and then rain all green here now. Bracing for a lake affects snow storms today and into Friday 2 to 3 feet. If not more went down to the offgrade cabin yesterday brought more supplies there we go from the woods further to the woods, everything was good generator and solar. I still haven’t figured out Syria myself, but I’m with you. I’m sure it’s about oil you and your family. Stay safe. MR

The Yoopers know a lot of useful things that is for sure. A real stand-up bunch of people for the most part. The Native American people are also very knowledge and one of their core beliefs - if you will - is making use of as many parts of whatever it is they take from the land whether plant or animal etc. Some of them are amazingly adept at survival on very little and many of them are inherently communal in their thinking. So many lessons to be learned from that group of people.

I liked the live stream alot. Farmers are usually the group that will help each other out without being asked and usually get embarrassed if you offer them something besides a Thank You. They know it could be them that needs help next. I can't stress this enough get to know your local farmers. And if they need help, help them.

We help a select few here for several reasons. Have tried to get them to prep and for most, it’s too late. Forget trying to teach most youth these days anything about self-sufficiency or food preservation. On your note about the lake being a freezer, only until you get out there and there’s nothing left, because it’s been netted….or even worse.

Agree we will see a shift in employment. It is concerning and I'm not sure how that will look. A scary thought. And... you are not over the hill yet! I have such weird neighbors. Unfriendly and rarely seen. Except the ones who raised their kids when we did. I have one neighbor who gives us eggs and I give them garden items. Works out well. But neighbors are something I should work on.

The fish guy would not survive if anything really happens. There is fish no doubt about it, animals and birds are still plenty, but you may not feel well, the weather might be bad, too many people have the same idea, or it's a bad day for fishing when everything is great, but the fish just would not bite. When things are stable, it's not a problem, but if it's a situation when that fish is your meal, that's a different story. These kinds of people are the first ones to go.
