Headphones and tunes! You can space out and your artist an concentrate. Oh, and cash for a tip for a job well done.
@SS-L.O.T.O.5 жыл бұрын
I always pay cash for the entire thing. One of my artists I was paying and giving huge tips every time I had a session and we messed up on one day where I had it as one day he had it as another and after 3000 plus dollars of work when that happened he threw a fit and before this he fucked up one part of my tattoo and considered it my fault and we had a blow out over his pride getting in the way of constructive criticism wasn't being a dick at all (why would I want to piss of the person putting ink in my skin) but because of that we are done and he's never even tried to say hey let's make things right. This is what I call a real piece of work and started going to a friend that is a great artist but right before we were done he passed away. And now a lot of good artists won't work on another artist's work and idk what to tell them when the person doing it literally can't ever finish it. Thought it was bad enough losing a friend but my point is way to many artists have a good complex where they act like your time means nothing in comparison to yours.

Also I just love to chat with my artist, it is like therapy and sometimes we laugh so much that we actually have to stop tattooing for a bit so it wont mess up 😆 I suggest to get to know your tattooer if you are going there for more than one session, it also might feel safe to really know that there is a person to talk to.

When I got my arm tattooed years ago, my body went into shock as the needle went around the "funny bone" (nerve in elbow). I would advise sugary snacks to help keep your blood sugar levels up; this helped me snap out of the shock state my body went into. It's crazy how fast your body can go from being fine to shutting down because your bodies had enough.

I spent 6 hours under the needle one day, started to into shock at about hour 4, my artist felt my body temp drop, stopped work, asked me how I felt, I was getting a little light headed, he popped a Dr Pepper, sat mr up and I came right put of it. not diet, full sugar soda or juice might he a good idea to bring along in case you start getting stage feeling.

You mean 'abroad'? I got a big tattoo in another city and I would *definitely* recommend staying overnight afterwards, if it's sizeable. I'd planned on going home straight away but my flight was cancelled and I had to stay overnight. The tattoo leaked a lot and the dressing began sliding off. Luckily I had time to pop back first thing the next morning and the artist cleaned it up and re-dressed it. It healed really well, but I was actually really grateful to have her clean it up - especially because it was on my back.

One thing to remember with diabetics they can bleed more and there are only certain areas you can get tattooed. Talk to your doctors about the safe spots because it’s different for each person and your type of diabetes. Only reason I know this is my family is diabetic and some can’t get tattooed because of it. So that might be a difficult video just because of how different it is for each person. Hope that helps though. Also not all tattoo artist are comfortable tattooing diabetics just because of risks so make sure that’s something your artist is okay with. Again that is just generalized based off of the same rules on my different family members.

On the note of packing things, bring water and sweet stuff! or like something with electrolytes in it. If you're going to be sitting for more than two hours or so, you want to keep your blood sugar at a constant level. During your tattoo session, your body is burning more energy (sugar) in fighting off foreign invader (ink, potential germs, etc.) and if you aren't replenishing on some thing heavy in carbs/sugars then you'll easily go hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and can pass out. You want to keep hydrated throughout your tattoo session because you're inadvertently sweating, bleeding, burning energy, so to have water or something like a Gatorade (something with electrolytes - salt) helps in keeping your blood pressure up, so you don't pass out.

When I went for my FIRST Tattoo... Prior, I spoke with the Tattoo Artist on what it all entailed.. then I scheduled a Day/Time for my first Tattoo.. The biggest thing I kept hearing my Tattoo Artist speak about, was he had seen people experience Nausea... and become sick feeling to their stomach's. I stopped at the little store beside the Tattoo Shop before my appointment and got a HUGE Orange Juice, as such was always Sweet Tasting unto me, and too, it has a sugar level to it as well.... Got in to the shop, laid down on my side and gave the Tattoo Artist my leg so they could begin.. while I sipped the OJ... In time, since I had laid down for a while, I actually was becoming sleepy. The Tattooing work being done did not bother me as bad as I thought it would. However, I did not get to sleep, as a couple of Marines came in, walked over to see what I was getting, struck up a conversation with me, and learned that I was Air Force.. Of course, the Marines were teasing me then, that it must not hurt if an Air Force man can go through it... So they decided to proceed to get a tattoo themselves. Now for the FUN ENTERTAINING PART... Their Tattoo Artist had only just begun on the first Marine and the SCREAMING began as he claimed it HURT! ha ha ha... Soon, the Tattoo Artist told him that he could nor proceed if he continue to scream out like that.. Meanwhile, my Tattoo Artist and me was laughing about this whole scene... :) The Marine then told the Tattoo Artist he would have to re-schedule and come back and do his Tiny Tattoo in Cessions due to the amount of Pain, ha ha ha... Yes, his Tiny 2inch x 2inch approx size tattoo was going to be done in cessions due to pain.. :) :) When my Tattoo Artist finished my tattoo, he gave me a tube of cream to use daily, and directions on how to care for my tattoo during the healing process. I followed his directions, and must admit, even I was surprised as it healed right up without an scabbing or the like as I heard others said. My skin was slightly red in the area of the new tattoo, and the bright ink colors of the tattoo showed well.. in a few days, the skin red color disappeared and the just the bright tattoo showed. I got 3 Tattoo's from them before I was sent to Riyadh Saudi Arabia due to Desert Shield/Desert Storm....

Well rested indeed. I once got tattooed while being totaly exausted and didn't want to cancel the appointment. It was very uncomfortable.

@@ieatgarbage4216 got it done a few hours ago - only took 90 minutes once set up, didn't even eat a single lolly, and almost fell asleep lol. Hurt, yes, but not unbearable. I listened to a podcast, zoned out, blocked it out. Felt like a scalpel blade on sunburn AT TIMES, sometimes like a prickly massage / TENS machine, mostly in between. Tattooist said he'd never had someone sit so still for a shoulder tattoo. I dont think it's about being 'tough' I think different people feel different levels of pain, and cope well with some TYPES of pain, and less with others. for me, torn ligament pain in my ankle was the worst pain I've felt. Broken hand I don't even need Panadol, but period pain I wanted to curl up and die! Lol

Queen Bee so cool! You’re pretty tough, and I agree with period pain ugh (nexplanon removed my cramps). Tattoos are so relaxing, and therapeutic. I’m so excited I’m getting my 4th one in two weeks and tattoos are not nearly as bad as they seem. Giving birth naturally was pretty much the worst pain I’ve felt so far 😂 well congrats on your new tat!

Only tip I have is for Diabetics, always test your blood sugar before, during a long session and afterwards.

one thing I'd definitely recommend while getting tattooed is keep breathing. personally, when I'm going through a stressful situation, I tend to hold my breath, but when I got my first tattoo a few months back, I really had to force myself to keep breathing and it really did help

So ive been getting inked this winter and im also with an artist whos booth is closest to the door - ive found bringing a few packs of those shake-up hand warmers helps a lot. dont wanna be shivering and have a tattoo end up looking like a seismograph recording

Friends of people getting tattooed - especially if the customer is having a long session, bring plenty of things to read and do - you'll get bored quickly. Brownie points if you wander off to get food and other supplies as requested. My wife had an all day session at a tattoo convention. I went on sandwich and drinks runs for her and the tattooist, and inbetween dropping by to see if they needed anything every now and then, spent the rest of the day going to stands and having a long conversation with a really cool photographer who specialised in portraiture of tattooed and people with heavy body modifications. For other all day sessions she went on her own, and I just turned up as a taxi ride at the end

Always have snacks and water, are a must especially if you are going for a 4 hour session plus. Once the adrenaline dwindles, the blood sugar Will dive and you can faint. I have been tattooed by the same artist for a long time so I always bring them lunch or dinner and a fanta(his favourite). I truely believe that since they are taking care of you, you should take care of them: i.e. food, drink, snacks, and he gets homemade weird crochet ghosts, bats, monsters, etc.
