Walking! I walked so much with my first and now that I’m pregnant with my second I’m making it a point to walk on the treadmill/outside four to five times a week. I am pretty sure if I didn’t walk with my first my birth would not have progressed near as well.

Just a suggestion and perhaps you already plan to do this! But you could open all of your home birth plastic supplies and let them off-gas outside so they don't smell when you go to use them 🤍

make sure your support person knows your plan/preferences and all your strategies to manage labour! When the contractions hit, its so easy to blank out and forget everything and actively advocate for yourself -having them take initiative based on your desires is huge!

Just had my second natural birth in February and I will say moving through contractions made such a difference!! My labor was so much quicker and I felt so much more in tune with my body this time around. My two favorite positions I used were leaving on my kitchen bar and swaying side to side and on my knees leaning over my birth ball again swaying through contractions as much as possible! So excited to hear your birth story this time around you, I loved hearing your perspective to prepare for my home birth!!

One of the most effective things for my births was listening to the hypnobirthing tracks with my husband while trying to find deep relaxation together. Those were lovely experiences and reinforced our bond before baby came. There are so many exercises and to-dos before a baby arrives but I swear by practicing deep relaxation everyday leading up to birth. It helps grow that skill so you can snap into it easier when in labor. But Im sure you already know this!

Then, the midwife office looked pretty similar to my midwives office and with the bag of samples, I realized that we go to the same midwifery 😂😂 such a small world!! I am 38 weeks pregnant. Dates are super yummy cold! Pop them in the fridge and see if they taste more like caramel. I love mine with a little mascarpone cheese or cream cheese with a roasted pecan with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup added to the cream cheese for a treat! I’m looking forward to trying the Claraderm Spray this time around for our 3rd due in November! Just ordered it! I love red Raspberry Leaf Tea I do think it helps. I also want to try Gentle Birth by Mountain Meadow Herbs this 3rd time around! Totally ordering some of that colostrum as well!

Hey I’m not sure if you know just because you didn’t specify how you were using the primrose oil but you can use it as a suppository and it helps with hydrating the area and tearing. I used it with my first and had 0 tearing with my home birth and my son came out with his fist by his face, obviously just a suggestion to look into if you weren’t aware!! (P.s. if you choose to do it wear a pad to bed)

Also 36 weeks pregnant. Due the 29th. Originally planned a home birth but can no longer do it due to finances. Have an induction scheduled for the 2nd of May if he doesn’t arrive by then. I’ve been seeing the chiropractor (which I now see twice a week) eating my dates, drinking red raspberry leaf tea, and doing stretches on my yoga ball Started eating pineapple today Will start doing the miles circuit every day as well as walking/curb walking Monday Thinking about trying evening primrose oil and acupressure points because I mean, what’s it gonna hurt? Have lots of pressure, pelvic pain, and lightning crotch! He’s also already engaged and I have started dilating. This is my first baby.

It is so cool you are going to have (another) home birth and are able to do so (my landlord lives underneath me, so that was never an option, as we have never been homeowners). Being postpartum the entire time at home must be so relieving. I had terrible pelvic pain with my third pregnancy that lasted a little after a few weeks postpartum. That exercise person would have truly been a help to me. Oh well. For the next one!! :) -JusticePirate

I haven’t finished the video yet so I apologize if this is mentioned, but would you mind talking about how having an unmedicated birth after the first one with an epidural was? How would you say the pain compared?
@BethGraceMoore
@BethGraceMoore Ай бұрын
I was induced for my first birth and the pitocin contractions were on another level 🥴 I got the epidural around 5 or 6 cm dilated I think? And at that point I was literally shaking and felt like I had ZERO control over the contractions haha but I also didn't really know coping strategies going into it. I had my water broken manually in that delivery as well (ideally, if you can avoid this and have your water break on its OWN while pushing that is best case scenario pain-wise)... so across the board, a lot of intervention in my first birth. And in my experience that makes everything more painful! Being in transition (8-9 cm) unmedicated was about the same level of pain for me at 5 cm dilated on pitocin lollllll
@BethGraceMoore
@BethGraceMoore Ай бұрын
Also - tbh I don't think I would attempt another pitocin induction unmedicated, if I *had* to do it. If induction is medically necessary for anyone reading this and you feel confident going that route.... I would get the epidural 😂 but everyone's pain tolerance is so different

I’d be curious to know if they changed your due date based on the 3rd trimester ultrasound alone? Late pregnancy ultrasounds are notoriously inaccurate at predicting size, that’s why dating ultrasounds are done around 8 weeks. If dating is done much later than the first trimester, it becomes more and more inaccurate. If I’m remembering the percentage correctly I believe it’s something like 20% variation in late pregnancy (which can mean a couple pounds in either direction, and can also look like a couple weeks in either direction). If this change is only due to the ultrasound result, I’d personally push back on the date change, especially if anyone starts talking about induction if you go past a certain timeframe. This is discussed a lot on the “Birthing Instincts” and “Down to Birth” podcasts.

Thanks for sharing! I would love to do a home birth. Does anyone in the States know if insurance covers this or how it would work?
@MadyHenderson
@MadyHenderson Ай бұрын
Most insurrances don't, but I do think it depends on the state. I know insurrance sharing will cover it though if you get it before finding out you're pregnant. That's the only way I've seen insurrance pay for a homebirth.
@Mamamimi817
@Mamamimi817 Ай бұрын
Some midwives will take insurance you just got to look for them, I know that some places they can be pretty far or sometimes none are close enough depending😕. Where I have lived most midwives take Medicaid and private insurance. The payment rules were different in each state though, in Oregon insurance covers the birth 100% with Medicaid it depends what private insurance you have how much they pay I think. In Washington with Medicaid there was usually a fee but you would get reimbursed because they aren’t legally allowed to charge you for something Medicaid pays for when they accept Medicaid, obviously same situation with the private insurances.
@sararetka9979
@sararetka9979 Ай бұрын
I live in MN and for my first birth a decent portion of my home birth costs were reimbursed by our insurance (I also had pretty good insurance at the time). For my second baby we had different insurance (not the best) and they hardly reimbursed anything. But the midwifery practice that I worked with basically offered a sliding scale fee to all of the families that they see, to help make it more affordable - and I'm pretty sure that's a fairly common thing for midwives to offer💖
