For the lovey, once we saw she realy liked hers, we bought two more of the exact same one and alternate :) just so that she has them for years if she needs it, and alternate so they get "old" at the same time haha. A little tip maybe i can add is that mom can sleep with the lovey before giving it to the baby for the first time so that our smell is on it 🥰 and at first i also would give it to her while i was breastfeeding her so she associate her lovey to comfort .. she always rubs the lovey in her face and sucks her fingers now when she suits herself to sleep, its the cutest 🥰 She is almost 8 months now and still sleeps in our room in her playpen 😬😬 because we just never finished her bedroom after moving in our new house ... we been putting it aside for too long .. Now we just need to put up curtains and set up the monitor in her room .. i am hoping the transition goes well ❤️ thanks for the video !

Don't have people over around the time that you want to settle your baby for a nap or night time sleep. You will get stressed and guests will have opinions that they feel they need to share. When baby is settling well, then you can have people over and settle baby before returning to guests. If baby stops settling well, or quickly or you begin to feel uncomfortable with any or specific guests being around when she is settling, suggest partner takes them for a wake while you settle baby or stop those visitors coming at those times. Also, when you are having a period time when baby is not settling, stay upstairs but in another room, and occupy yourself for 5 minutes or so after baby stops crying and seems to have settled just to make sure baby is asleep and you can start your evening.

I sometimes wake up in the night thirsty. Thankfully, I am an adult and able to get myself something to drink. Isn't that what everyone would do or would anyone think "oh, it's night time, so I will suppress my thirst and wait until morning"..? It is not true that there is a specific age at which babys don't need to be fed in the night anymore. It is even essential for their brain development to get nutrition whenever their body needs it, which can of course also be the case in the night. If your baby sleeps 7 hours at 4 months age - that's normal. If your baby wakes every 2 hours at 4 months - that's normal. Babys are different! Ask around your friends and I am sure there will be a great variety about what he or she considers to be the perfect length of sleep at night. Babys are meant to wake up several times during the night. It's what secured their survival a long time ago. Babys don't need to learn how to sleep. They develop the ability to connect their sleep windows over time until they are able to sleep for a long stretch of time.
@asurian124

What age do they connect their sleep cycles?
@katzinkakat8106
@katzinkakat8106 2 жыл бұрын
@@asurian124 That's individual for each baby. As I said above, some will sleep through the night at 4 months, some will still wake up several times at the age of six years. (by the way, adults also wake up several times during the night but they don't remember it)

THIS 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 also, be aware that a lot of what we learn about baby sleep in our western culture is based on our cultural expectations, NOT what is biologically normal for a baby/child. A baby wakes up in the night not only for connection, but also because it’s a survival instinct. Parents being close at all times = survival and protection. And they DO learn to sleep through the night eventually.

She said in an Q&A that she no longer believe babies need to sleep independently to be great sleepers. She also said she finds what she did with her first baby got her great sleep but at the cost of attachment. Right now she is close to giving birth to her 3rd baby and she has been up all night to tend night wakings for both babies. Looks like a sleep regression that’s happening at the same time. It’s hard on her. She is such a strong mama! ❤

Thanks for saying it’s not typical and that you got the green light from your pediatrician. It’s very very important in the first few months to work with your pediatrician about skipping feeds and letting baby sleep. Our baby had hypoglycemia and if we skipped a 3hr feed his sugar would drop which can be very dangerous. At 4 weeks old we did not wake to one of the alarms and he went 5hrs and we still woke him up, he did not cry. When we checked his sugar it was low. His weight was fine and everything. By 2months his sugar was stable and now he goes 6-7hrs w stable sugars but we still have alarms at 3.5months. Each baby is diff and we can’t compare how long our babies should go without eating without making sure it’s safe w a Dr.

Im a first time mommy and surprisingly my baby is a good sleeper. As a newborn she slept for 4 hour stretches at night even though she wanted to sleep for longer, the first few days postpartum I Iet her wake up on her own but her doc said to wake her anyways babies need to eat every 3-4 hours. Then at her 2month appt she was 15 pounds so babygirl let go of the night feeding and sleeps through the entire night since. However whenever someone asks me of my experience as a mom and how well the baby sleeps I tell them about it and I always get some type of side eye or enviousness 😕 so I usually keep it to myself or change the subject

Oh! Don't worry about it. 6 Weeks is too soon to say that she is gonna sleep through the night. I've learned that until 3 months we should not try any method. Search for scientific articles on google scholar and you will see that. I have friend who tried a method like pick up/put down since the first day and her milk is gone at the same time her babies started sleeping by themselves. So, we need to be calm, and try to take the nap time with them to rest. My baby is seven mionths, breastfeeding, and i cannot control how much he drinks. He wakes up every two hours to be fed. That's hard, but I am happy with him. Good luck and congrats for your baby.

I feel like the 3-4 month developmental leap had lasted the full two months for us. I didn't start good sleep habits until last week, though, unfortunately. On the bright side, baby can fall asleep independently now! Still mostly taking short naps and is waking waaaaay too much at night, but I think we're on the right path.

If I’ve learned anything about baby sleep is that sometimes you can do all of the things, and your baby’s temperament is going to determine how well they settle and sleep overnight. I think many moms are humbled when they have multiple children and along comes a baby who despite all of these hacks, sleeps like junk and wakes every 2-3 hours for the first year and beyond. Luck is a huge factor.

@yennietangie consistent bedtime routine every night. So bath at 530 bottle at 545 and down to bed at 6pm. Put baby down awake so she knows where she is. White noise, dark room. We've always had her in her own room, not in with us. Research awake windows during the day as well. No dummy, no comforters etc. If she ever wakes at night she knows where she is and puts herself back to sleep 👍

I'm not sure where you're based but in Australia the safer sleep guidelines (for SIDS reduction) recommend the baby sleeps in the parents' room for at least the first six months, but preferably the first twelve months. We'll personally be trying to do the whole year (or even longer), but we'll see how we go once she actually arrives. 😊 We don't have a huge bedroom but fortunately it's big enough that we should just be able to fit a full size crib along the wall once she outgrows the bassinet (we may even just see how we go starting out in the crib)-I know some parents are forced to transition earlier because they just don't have the space.

Appreciate the info but co-sleeping sometimes and contact naps are memories I will never regret making with my son for way past the newborn age. I continued to do this throughout first year and he's a great sleeper- sleeping for 8-11 hour stretches every night in his crib and naps for 2-4 hours a day in his crib. Do what you want to do ladies.

We only started to put a blankie in her crib at like 10 months (and still not all nights). I didn't really notice a difference in the beginning either way, a small baby doesn't really 'cuddle' with a stuffed animal (or well at least our baby didn't) so I wouldn't do it either. It's because they can't move properly, or roll away or anything when they can't breathe properly.
