Andrew I've watched your channel for years now and never miss a video. I believe this style of content is what you do the best. Simple documentation of your learnings that we as viewers can take and apply on our own adventures. As camping and 4x4 enthusiasts, it's the small details that make all the difference on a trip so thanks for sharing.

Just binged after downloading it. I think it was very good. I enjoyed the talking. You have lots of videos with great shots etc., and this one focused more on the angle of a conversation and "hanging out". I found it relaxing and it was great hearing your insights on things including mortality. Years ago I wound up homeless: just me and my dog Jedda in a soft top two-door Jeep. It was winter in Flagstaff, Arizona and it was brutal at 7,000 feet at night. Wish I had filmed it, but I had no camera and was just surviving. Still, there were times sitting by the Jeep in the woods where there was such a sense of peace! I wouldn't want to be homeless again, but it made me see just how much time we waste and how many distractions keep us from living when we let possessions and luxuries become the focus. I pray you are able to keep doing what you love for a very long time to come!

I looooove your videos. I love how you inform/share with us your way of thinking. From planning your trips to packing your troopy. You have so many gadgets and interesting things/camping gear in your garage. What a treat it would be to fossick around in there, with you giving an explanation and reason for each and every little thing purchased. Love your work 👌

I’ve got Molle pouches in all shapes and sizes. Many of them are attached to the back of the front seats and used by a friend’s daughter and her cousin for hiding their sweets. I’ve got bottle holders that each hold two 330ml cans, and on one trip heard the little weasels, who don’t like fizzy drinks, raiding my fizzy Vimto. Other pouches hold ratchet straps and other items of no interest to them.

Hi Andrew, I had to remove and then put back the spare tyre of my prado today in my garage by myself and boy it was so heavy and difficult making me wonder how I can replace a flat tyre by myself. We had a conversation about this with friends and the conclusion was that in a group trip people will help etc which reminded me your solo travels and this recent series that I have watched almost half of it (and enjoyed). With your 70s series, I wonder if you have tried the spare tyre even as a test? Do you have tips or a special hack? FYI, I’m 49 years old, 5’9” and a thin body😅 Take care mate.

Hi Andrew I admire your videos. I figured you can confirm this or not. I bought 3 metal Jerry cans for water and fuel storage for my Landcruiser. I'm reading that I can't store drinking water or shower water in them. Its a shame, I don't need that much additional fuel. Thank in advance, Jim

There is nothing wrong with using steel cans for water! If they start to rust, then there could be a problem, and also, the paints used in steel cans might not be food grade. But for washing, they are properly suitable.

And suddenly, you made clear why my very recent latest road trip (through EU Alps) failed... I've made hundreds of thousands of km of solo road trips and became 1/ too lazy with preparations 2/ I forgot the second most important goal of that trip: include long hikes... Preparation: my car is start-ready all the time, so no issue here, but I forgot to consider the time of year (2 first weeks of August are when almost everybody is on holiday in Europe) -> the Alps were packed full of people, everywhere! It was super hard to find some peaceful places to enjoy... NEVER AGAIN... 2/ I had set myself the goal to take a 2 hours hike per day minimum...and forgot it... It might have helped get somewhat of a better experience though, releasing some stress, but... Thanks a lot for reminding me these basic but vital considerations for a solo trip, and the little trick (from now on, I'll have sticky note on my dashboard with the trip's goals written in it!) ... All the best!

Add a set of gaiters when you travel alone. Take snake bit out of the mix
@overland-workshop Жыл бұрын
95% of snake bites are on the lower leg. In Australia, even long trousers are fair protection because the snakes are back-fanged. Unlike many African snakes, which are, like mambas, front fanged. Trousers and gaiters are little help.

I just finished this series. I bought it on Vimeo. I will be very honest as a fan, it was A LITTLE disappointing because I barely saw the landscape, drone shots, or some form of an interesting and narrative story of the journey that creates even a little bit of suspense. And the reason I found it disappointing is because I know that you are capable of this; you are a really good film-maker and narrator. Maybe you took the filming format you took because “we were the travelling companion.” But it left me feeling pathetic that I am watching another man live his life, which just made me feel like a loser. Never the less viewers, if you are into tagging along with someone doing their trip, please buy it. It has a lot of dialogue, over-landing advice and has a follow along theme.

@@overland-workshop that is obvious ,my suggestion is to google what not to do when meeting a snake in Australia and maybe look at afew youtube vids on Aussie snakes ,I have lived in most states of this great country in the bush and have never met a nasty snake ,if you are scared of our wild life maybe say in GB @4xoverland

Obvious? Why so condescending? You obviously have no idea what my experiences are. I know a lot about snakes from many continents, overlanded for 40 years, lived in the bush, taught African people about snake bite prevention and actions. You I think are nothing but hot air.
