Lyme Regis Fossils

Жыл бұрын

Here is @ Mike Harrison fossils with his "Jewellers Loupe" on with his giant “Jurassic Jigsaw he is working on. He has taken 3 years finding and preparing this so far. “You can see a lovely Crinoid Cup, there on his Jurassic Coast find - that Mike made recently. He has worked ever so hard to put a lot of the Crinoid fragments back together again. This film is another update of his work in progress ! The other film 🎥 I made of Mike finding this specimen I’ve included in this KZbin video as follows - Mike Harrison has found the most wonderful crinoid fossil you could ever imagine. Here is just a fragment of what he has been digging up, in a mud slip. The area he is digging in and working on ,is like “soft cream cheese.” He has got special permission to do that work by the National Trust . Mike has another large fossil he found on Black Ven, that is the skull of an Ichthyosaur- in the Lyme Regis Museum. We will bring you more film on KZbin of this crinoid specimen, when its fully developed.The best tools are your eyes when finding fossils. When preparing fossils Mike uses a lot of concentrated effort. He has many years experience handling the sharp implements he uses, to help him prepare the fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right little rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast.#fossilhunter#fossils#crinoid

Great video Brandon. Can wait to see your video when Mike completes all the pieces. By the way it was great to pop in and enjoy a chat with you the other week when we were in Lyme. A quick thumbs up for the NHS workers out there 👍. Both me and my wife love the fossil we brought back from your shop.

Hi. These crinoids are beautiful ..😍... but you have a tough job ahead of you for the long, long winter days and evenings...😄 . The end result will probably be amazing. I look forward to the end of your work. Congratulations and warm greetings from Poland 👋 .

The cold 🥶 Winter nights are a great time for fossil preparation indoors. You can stay warm and keep out of the cold. I look forward to showing you the completed specimen next year with my filming of this colossal Crinoid . Greetings from the ☀️ the Jurassic Coast 🌊- Lyme Regis 🏖

TOTAL TREASURES! *Thanks for the View!* i Think i've found Crinoids in Yard, the tiny pieces: Calyx, Arms, Feeders 'heads' of a unknown various shades, look of darkish to brownish Green mineral. For most part, Matrix is Calcium Carbonate. Odd, Stems Not as pictures, but can see sections, no [total] crinoid over 1.5 inch, if that. Still wonder if i'm just Wishing?

Hey together, is there a reason for not air abrading the pieces?
@LymeRegisFossils
@LymeRegisFossils Жыл бұрын
The air abrasive is abrasive and the mud can just be scrubbed off with a brush leaving better definition. That is for the most part what Mike is doing - scrubbing, he might need to air abrade a bit of it maybe 🤔
