Fantastic work my friend! It’s like I was watching myself. Undercutting, ca glue in the tea candle… 😂 Did you use primer before the acrylic top coats? Love the display base it really adds a lot of character to the piece. Looking forward to the next instalment. All the best!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you my friend🙏 I told you I fear it would look like a Small Soldier copy😅 but happy to hear you like the result. I used MrSurfacer with Leveling thinner as a primer, and acrylic paints diluted with leveling thinner on top. I guess somewhat in this combination wasn't working well. For the next projects I got me some Tamiya paints for the preshading, hope this will work better with the leveling thinner🤞 The base is supposed to look like a armour textured piece in a way like a winter tank, hope that will match the scene🤞

@@biberhunter_scale_models Ahhh, there's your problem. Never use acrylic paints over resin for a primer coat... it'll never stick. The only acrylic primer that works is Stynelrez or Mig One shot (which is SR rebranded). I always start with either Tamiya spray primer or Mr. Surfacer 1000-1200 either of which is thinned with MLT... this will stick perfectly. I'm very flattered that you'd want to emulate my style of video content and wholeheartedly give you a thumbs up. Oh and btw thanks you for mentioning me in your video... much appreciated. Onward my friend.
@biberhunter_scale_models2 жыл бұрын
miniature but that's exactly what I did. Mr surfacer and MLT as a primer. And when it was dry the preshading and precolouring with acrylics and MLT. When I am not wrong that's how you did it too🤔 It's not that it was my intention to copy you too hard, but as you are my idol in bust painting and I know your guides by heart, I can't avoid it to make it look like one of your videos.😅 So I am even more happy that it's approved and you like the result, the mention is the least I could do.

@@biberhunter_scale_models Oh yeah, sorry you did use Mr. surface. I wonder if there was something wrong with the resin? I've had that happen before. I really like Tamiya spray primer as well straight out of the can... if levels real nicely.
@biberhunter_scale_models2 жыл бұрын
@@SmallSoldier I am really not sure how to say if the resin is okay, maybe I did something wrong without knowing it. I am a bit unsure using can spray primer for such small pieces as I am afraid of flooding details. Although I had good results with Vallejos spray can primer. Maybe I should give it a try in the future.

In this genuinely inspiring series you combined real artistry with such careful attention to detail, all of your layers of refinement of the skin were absolutely worthwhile to produce such a beautiful rendering and such realism to the eye. In the process you really demonstrated the value and possibilities of oil paints. The finished work is remarkable to enjoy looking at, but watching how you painted it was an absolute inspiring joy and I thank you for that friend. (In addition to your painting talent the videos were very well made too, and that's a quality work all of it's own)

Nice to see you have a new video up. Regarding the toxicity of resin shavings, I recommend wet sanding to control the spread of the resin dust. Inhaling that stuff is a serious problem. Cheers.

Yes, wet sanding is a good way to avoid dust, in this case I had to use the dremel so it was messy anyway and I wore a mask👌

Congrats, great work in that bust! As for the peeling of the primer I think that it happened because you used leveling thinner for diluting your acrylic paints. It reacts with mr surfacer!
@biberhunter_scale_models2 жыл бұрын
Thank you🙏 hm, interesting thought. I used the leveling thinner for the mr surfacer too, so I didn't expect that to be the problem🤔 or you say the acrylic paints reacted with the mr surfacer?
@modellers53402 жыл бұрын
@@biberhunter_scale_models Actually the thinner reacted with the mr surfacer. Mr leveling thinner is recommended by GUNZE for lacquer based paints and for mr surfacer series which are also lacquer based primers. So when you used mr leveling thinner ( which was in quite big ratio, if I’m not mistaken) for thinning the acrylic paints, it reacted with the coat of primer. I think that’s the explanation in your problem.
@biberhunter_scale_models2 жыл бұрын
@@modellers5340 okay that's interesting. I thought when every layer is completely dry it should be no problem, no matter what you apply on what. And as I used the leveling thinner with every paint I would never guessed that this could be a problem. But thank you, I will try out different combinations in the future, as I in general like the mr surfacer.

How are you able to thin Vallejo Model color with leveling thinner? I just tried this and it caused the pigments to separate from the binder. Witchcraft! Nice work btw.

😅 I had this with acrylics from AK and Ammomig. Did you try more than one colour? Maybe the one you tried had some issues or the specific colour didn't work🤔 something seems to affect this as I heard from other guys that they mix the Ammo acrylics with MTL what never worked for me, only Vallejo works. Don't know what's the factor🤷♂️
