It's like I'm getting a master class in my own style... but with a cooler accent and better hands!😀 You keep getting better with each piece and I sincerely mean that. It's all about the layers and building those tones on top of one another and you've achieved great success! I noticed you bought some of the Princeton Filbert brushes... they're the bomb for blending oils. I appreciate your fondness for my work and am flattered that you want to emulate how I paint figures. Keep up the great work! I look forward to each video/post you make... I'm a fan! Well, it's now time to get busy editing my next video... are you using Power Director as well? Cheers.

Thank you very much, I am really blown away to hear you are a fan of me😲 and my accent😉 really happy to hear you like my work, obviously that's somehow the ultimate goal to achieve with painting a bust. I bought the Filbert brush when I started my first bust, with a lot things I saw in your videos like the same paints, so I can't say it's the fault of my material.😂 The Princeton brushes are one of the best I ever used, no matter the shape or sizes. And I really felt that I learned a lot stuff again while working at this piece. Looking forward already to the next face. Yes I use Powerdirector, a great easy to use program, never let me down. Now I am really looking forward to your video and your approach to acrylic figure painting 👍😊

In this genuinely inspiring series you combined real artistry with such careful attention to detail, all of your layers of refinement of the skin were absolutely worthwhile to produce such a beautiful rendering and such realism to the eye. In the process you really demonstrated the value and possibilities of oil paints. The finished work is remarkable to enjoy looking at, but watching how you painted it was an absolute inspiring joy and I thank you for that friend. (In addition to your painting talent the videos were very well made too, and that's a quality work all of it's own)

i just came across this video and it's great to watch. and I have no idea if you will see this comment, but I was wondering around 7:40 when you are applying the very thin filter, are you really using mineral spirits as thinner there and if so how is it not lifting or removing the previous layers of oil paint? I'm wondering if it's an oil medium but would love to find out. thank you so much for sharing this work!
@biberhunter_scale_models Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your kind words. Yes I use odourless thinner for thinning the paint and for this filter too. I guess white spirit would work too. It's important to let the previous layer fully dry before applying the next one, so it doesn't get reactivated. Then it's no problem to work with thinner over painted areas. You can also use Liquin as a thinning medium, but that drys out glossy, so thinner is my choice here👌

beautiful video! I am new to oils but why did you dry it out on cardboard at start?
@biberhunter_scale_models Жыл бұрын
Thank you, happy to hear😊 there is oil in the paints to keep them more liquid so to say, and you want to get the oil out of the paints because when they dry after painting the oil would cause a glossy shine. When dried out on cardboard, they dry out matt. But some paints like some green tones can still dry out a bit glossy, so thinning them with thinner can help here too to reduce the gloss.
@PhatYeti Жыл бұрын
@@biberhunter_scale_models ohhh ok so you only did this because you didn't want the face glossy that makes sense. Is that correct?
@biberhunter_scale_models Жыл бұрын
@@PhatYeti yes exactly. On a face it's maybe not that bad because skin can have a glossy look, but on the helmet and uniform you definitely want a matt finish.
