@@FiredGlass living in Mexico makes it hard for me to get supplies. I only have one kiln shelf for my kiln and would love to get another one. Any suggestions as to where and how without paying a fortune for it? 🐢

Once you know about it it's a great time saver for sure. Changed our world when we learnt about it.

So you can use this for microwave kiln and no need to use the paper and place glass in this directly?
@FiredGlass2 жыл бұрын
There should be no reason why not. Make sure you end up with an even smooth covering. However, as mentioned in reply to your other comment about making glass dots, we are not experts with microwave kilns. Whilst the concept is similar, the equipment being different does throw up differences.

Oh my goodness! I thought you had to let it dry in between each coat! LOL!

You have just bought yourself some time back then! Great news.

Why do you need to take the old shelf wash off the sides of the shelf before redoing the shelf with new Kiln Wash?
@FiredGlass Жыл бұрын
No there's no need, if there any flakes then rub those off, but otherwise just coat over the top.

Very informative thanks. My glass art teacher taught me to allow the shelf to dry in between each wash, which doesn't take long here in Australia, but interesting to see you actually don't need to do that. Also using the damp scourer before coating the shelf is a brilliant idea, as is gently rubbing the top coat of dried wash with a piece of flat paper to smooth away brush lines.😁🐨🦘
