In this video I get my new basement floor graded and prepared for concrete to be poured. Install floor drains and set some columns to support a beam line.

The amount of planning that has gone into this project is incredible-it proves itself as each piece of the puzzle snaps into place. Thanks for documenting the process!!

Your videos are so enjoyable to watch! I like how much information you include on the process, and even answer questions I have. For instance, I didn't understand why there was a column next to the far basement wall, but you explained the rationale.

Radiant in concrete is such an amazing way to heat your space! You will love it so much, having the warmth at your coldest feet is so nice! Also warming the huge volume of solid concrete will hold so much heat and keep it there longer too hence the radiating part😂🤦🏻♂️ So nice to see this all coming together! Very well done planning has been in place for months now to make this go so smoothly along! Congratulations on that coming together so well! I love these kind of walk-out basement\garage\houses its such a good way to use all your space efficiently imo! Can't wait to see you get this all wrapped up and put together! A nice drive-in garage to work\park in - i assume you'll run radiant\pex in there too. Its gonna be so nice, I'm jealous of this set-up! Hopefully i can recreate something like this in my future!👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩🦺🤔 ✊🏻🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸✊🏻

If it's not too late, you should put a plumbing ejection crock in, while it's easy. You may at some point want to put a bathroom in and it's much easier if you have the crock in.

I agree they are handy to have but unless he knows exactly where the fixtures are going it's kinda hard to install now. I've put a few zoeller pits in before in basements that have a higher sewer\drain line than the floor and it's not that hard to cut & break up concrete only where needed for DWV lines. Plus the radiant PEX tubing is going to be in the concrete too. Now is the time to plan ahead for it, if ever thinking about a lower level bath\toilet install. 👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩🚿🚽 ✊🏻🇺🇸🦅

I think that basement is going to turn out great. It's a nice size as well That skid steer gin pole crane did a great job lifting those beams into place. things are looking much better now the gravel is in as you can now see the layout more clearly. Going well, thanks for sharing....

It is so nice to have a 9' ceiling in a basement. I have friends who build homes and they all build basements with at least one more course of block (or ICF) than what is standard so that the ceiling is that much higher. Even 8 inches is a massive difference between a basement that feels like a dungeon and one that feels open and airy. Are you sure you want to fill that in and raise the level of the concrete, thereby losing that much more headspace? Their homes sell at a premium compared to homes with "normal" 8 foot basements, making that extra expense worth it.

I really like the play-by-play of your work on this house reno. Thanks for taking all the time to record what you are doing. With the utmost respect, have you considered the off-gassing of the asphalt grindings? It wouldn't hurt to put in a radon gas-type evacuation system before you pour concrete.

You should have installed P-traps at the end of your floor drain's going into your drain piping.

In my area I have seen guys pour the concrete floor level with footing instead of on top of the footing it gives you an extra three or four inches of Headroom if it's allowed that could be something to think about
@WilliamGushulak2 сағат бұрын
Just make sure you drill in #5 rebar every 16" in your footer and don't forget the Visqueen very important.

@oldcarpenter23722 сағат бұрын
Should there be a water trap to keep critters (mice, bugs, snakes, etc) from using the drain pipe to find their way into the trench drain then into you basement? Air from outside can flow inward too. Or, you could add backflow preventer with a flap that would prevent the critter and air intrusion.

From what I've seen they pump the concrete into the pump trailer the pour from that
@Wolfpupfab2 сағат бұрын

You brought up the gravel so much that it looks like your going to concrete over your pillars pads if so are you going to pour concrete over the bolts on your pillars where you can't replace the pillars if needed later?
