Hi Katie (and Elisha). This is Chris Jasper. It was great to randomly meet you in the Safeway parking lot this morning. lol My wife, Molly, was always wondering if we'd ever bump into you guys in town sometime. And now we have! Anyway, here is one of my channels, Gregorian Chant Academy. FYI, Gregorian Chant is the official, liturgical sung prayer of the Catholic Church, dating back to around the 5th-6th century and is still used to this day. 90%+ of its texts are taken from Sacred Scripture and are sung in Latin. In fact, musical notation was invented around the turn of 9th-10th centuries to record these chants! My other channel is an occasional podcast called Pipes With Augustine. It was great meeting you. God bless you and your family. Stay close to Jesus and have a very Merry Christmas!

I think this was a wise choice ❤ When you talked about going through the stomach flu in the tent, my first thought was "imagine going through that with a newborn!" The ability to be warm, have a warm bath etc in your final days of pregnancy is also so vital!

Been there. Yall made the right move. You still saved a ton of money for six months and that’s admirable. You’re making wonderful memories of these little years.

I can def see your reluctance to move close to giving birth and also your being anxious to be moved after the experience in tent w sickness. So glad you have chosen to accept the help and to be warm for next birth. I am sure you gave your family great experience and memories and pray for a smooth delivery and recovery for you all and smooth transition as far as moving and adding new baby. We just had our 10th 6 weeks ago and it was my easiest delivery yet. God bless you all.

Your post-partem might just be the best one yet now that you have the modern day comforts back 🤣. You both are incredible lights of God. I have gleaned many good things from your season in the tent. Thank you for allowing us to see a little glimpse of it all. Praying for a wonderful delivery and post-partem.

This must have been an amazing experience, and the kids will have great memories of the tent! But glad you'll have more modern conveniences when you bring this sweet new little one into your home. All the best for a safe and smooth delivery, Katie!

I definitely recommend getting music lessons through voetburg academy. Especially if your child seems to have a talent for learning music by ear. My daughter just started a few weeks ago and she's doing AMAZING!!! She has already played 4 songs.

I think anyone who has lived offgrid with children understand when the time has just run out. Histroically, people had a lot of help and passed on their own systems when living in nature that we in the west just don't have. Also people had much simpler goals. When you're trying give your kids a quality education, make good meals and not just plain meat and corn four/water cakes, keep up with hygiene, etc. it's a lot to add to our ancestors whose goals were probaly just "survive the winter." I think God makes creative inventor people so we can grow society! Living off grid really does build character and gives you alot of perspective for how much you don't need. I know I wll always line dry our linens and enjoy cooking outside. Never want a huge house for sure and still enjoying DIYing when we can and spending most of our time outside. But I also enjoy having time to play games with my kids, do sports as a family, etc. The things you just dont have time for when your handwashing laundry and dishes, hauling water, etc. I think everyoneshould go for it at least once though, getting appliances again feels like cheating!

I’m a student midwife and the amount of moms who move two weeks before having a baby or two weeks after are actually very high haha so I’m not surprised by this at all 😅. Excited for you guys and praying for a safe & wonderful birth! ❤

The experience of a lifetime. Well done 👍🏻 I agree that you all should be proud of yourselves and proud of your children. Definitely not a fail, but a wealth of knowledge, capabilities, physical & mental strength, family bonding, on and on. These months in the tent will serve you all for years to come. Meanwhile, enjoy preparing for the arrival of baby boy #5. Merry Christmas!

Well done you guys for being pioneers.. And when it comes to admitting our limits... we've been there - more than once... So humbling and heartsore to admit our own limitations, but the Lord is so tangible and gentle and kind in our weakness. Our own margin is so good for our kids too, now looking back I see how gracious it is of the Lord to lead us away from maxing out for their sake x

My neighbors are living very similar to you while they build! I think your situation sounds a bit more cozy though... they really only have room to sleep in their shack, nothing else. They eat in their car 😱We're in MT though and it could snow 2 feet any day. I watch their 4 year old 2-3 days a week so he can get inside and have some play time in the warm house with my kiddos. They only have 3 kids though and the older two are 10 and 13 so definitely is a little easier with more capable kids and fewer of them. They have the same pride to stick it out and prove everyone wrong who thinks they're nuts. I admire their pluck, but also encourage them to use our house while we're away so they can relax a bit.

Very cool...Our family of seven have lived in the 'wilderness' for 11 years....increasingly gaining 'amenities' .... but it's been good for us in so many ways, including how we have all learned to improvise and live without things .... and now we're staying in a 'regular' setting for a couple of months, and yes, it is so 'easy' .. LOL Judy

Also hearing about the experience sort of reminds me of the story of the first Christmas.haveyou thought about the parallels there? We havw two december babies and they were my fav births because it was so neat to be pregnant and to meditate on what it was like for the Blessed Virgin Mary and Our Divine Infant King and for St Joseph. He too was so humbled when they had to move right befire she gave birth and had to accept help as a beggar at the very end.

I listened to the last several episodes back to back. And it' sounded like the sickness and all you had was not bad and how great it all worked out and now the real truth comes out about how terrible it actually was.
@lithopheliax61x53 күн бұрын
Eeally? I totally got that it was terrible from the last episodes - I mean, they mentioned that it was more practical that they thought to be all in one room ( so, it was not as bad as one could have assumed, but it did sound suboptimal) and I really thought - now, they have to move back into a house. So, happy they did
@lithopheliax61x53 күн бұрын
Yes, great decision to move back "indoors", for the winter and the arrival of a new baby. But I definitely understand the experience was great for you - not for everyone, obviously, but I thiught it was a thing that made sense for your family Wishing you a merry Christmas 🎄 and all the best for the upcoming birth ❤

I'm glad you addressed the wasps ha ha. Every single episode I thought "are their kids getting stung nonstop?" They were TERRIBLE this year. I've been attacked by a whole yellow jacket nest before so I had a really hard time getting outside this summer. I hope next year is better 😢

When someone changes their looks, it is important to have a converstaion first 🥰 Is there a reason that you choose to be in a house, verses getting another RV for a short time stay, then to have as a guest place later ?

Gotta be honest, it never seemed like a great idea in general (felt like glorified, unnecessary hardship). Idaho is no joke in the winter and there was no point in living in a tent when you have the means to be in a real house. I may have missed it but where are the cats? I hope they weren’t left behind.
@BeccaHolland-n4q4 күн бұрын
I think I missed it, what caused them to have to bail out of the tent? I know because of winter, but what was the catalyst to them leaving a week sooner than planned?
