Thank you guys so much for continuing with this project. I watch every Half-Send video. I just got my '17 ST3 a year ago and was worried everyone would start forgetting about these cars as soon as I started to mod mine. After scouring forums and your past ST videos, I was planning on doing exactly what you guys did here: Install the XDI for simple E85 while I save for a G25-550. Glad to see you guys affirming this is a good idea. Aux fuel kinda scares me. When it comes time to make my purchases, it will definitely be with you.

I personally took it off and I remember moving around the harness a little to get to the bolt on the bracket in the middle of the line because it was hard to get to otherwise. But I didn't think it was super hard.

Would the benefit on stock turbo be worth cost to be able to run straight e-85? For someone down here in Houston area?
@EdgeAutosport2 жыл бұрын
Yes and No - as you can see, it does add some power, and E85 almost entirely eliminates knock or pre-detonation. But it really shines as a fuel solution when moving to a larger, higher boost turbo setup

so with the Powermax, XDI pump, FBO, and lets say e85...what do y'all estimate power numbers at sea level (or close to it)? Im debating this or the BNR3071 with this pump, Id be happy with 380whp, but if the powermax cant do that on the above set up, Id go 3071 and shoot for a 450/450'ish mark.
@EdgeAutosport2 жыл бұрын
The powermax will not reach 380whp, ours is barely hitting 315whp on full e85 (at altitude). At sea level, you would get more like 330 ...maybe? If you want to go north of 400, a 3071 would be a better choice!

You would need to purchase a custom tune or revision to a tune to properly calibrate for an XDi

You guys always have awesome videos! One thing you skipped was the important steps when disconnecting the factory pump, so you dont have a load in the fuel system and get fuel everywhere. I'm heavily considering spending the money on this pump with a big turbo...since Id rather spend $1450 on this (i believe is the price) than buy an aux kit, replace the rail, add injectors, etc...this is far less likely to fail and i believe it can achieve plenty of power with a bigger turbo. On a side note...I have been FBO/E30 for over 2 years straight now. Do you guys know what risks there are to the internals like valves and stuff? Can we safely run cleaners to help with deposits and stuff from running E85 blends for so long? I know my Fuel rail pressure sensor failed during a race weekend and i replaced it, everything was fine. But it had a lot of gunk all around it. Not sure if it was from the ethanol or just happens...
@EdgeAutosport2 жыл бұрын
The Focus was sitting for a few days, so there was very little fuel pressure in the system, but you are right, pulling the fuse and running out the pressure is a good move. As for ethanol cleaners, we know STP makes and ethanol-specific injector cleaner which may be worth a shot as ethanol definitely gets a little "gummy" on the valves of a port-injected car. If you are DI, it's less of an issue. One of the biggest issues with ethanol is it's corrosive nature on rubber seals and such.

I know this is an old video. But I have a question. I have a set of 1700cc injectors with the evo fuel pump. I was told that I need to run a 100 micron fuel filter?. Is this true ?. Or can I just run the injectors and pump and get tuned on a 50% blend ?.
@EdgeAutosport8 ай бұрын
There might be some merit to using a fuel filter. I know in the RS it helps with flow since the stock one is so restrictive. But in terms of adding one on to the ST, that's not something that is required.

Will this pump or the 35 work with pump gas or just on e blends? Also do you need the injectors is it necessary..

These work great with all fuels, you will get increased flow for pump gas AND the ability to run more ethanol gas, its a win-win! Injectors are not necessary, but definitely a great pairing for an ideal setup.

@TMTMS32 жыл бұрын
This car has the PowerMax turbo which isn’t much bigger than stock so it’s not pushing the fuel system that hard anyways. With a bigger turbo, we’d be limited to e40 to e50 with just the pump. And you can run full E85 with 4 port aux fuel and the right size injectors.
