Happy Imbolc! I'm just learning about the symbolism of the pagan festivals as they occur throughout last and the current year. I thought I would share some of my recent discoveries: I celebrate the lunar New Year with the Vietnamese community at the Buddhist temple I attend. I was delighted to discover that lunar New Year's day is February 1st, the same as Imbolc! Viet new year is the celebration of the return of spring, the temple is always full of spring flowering cut tree branches that have been coaxed into bloom by the monks. We also have a special service set aside to feed the hungry Ghost and remember the ancestors, those who have passed on, very much like Samhain. I'm excited to see the convergence of western and eastern traditions. Happy Imbolc from America!

So I was born in spring and I always had a strong connection with it. I just love it (and autumn). So months before spring starts I can already feel it come and I keep telling people it is here soon. I am generally happier and more energized. I see all those flowers growing, freshly grown grass, few more birds, few more leaves. But I will be missing the fact it is dark in the afternoon or that it is the perfect temperature. No sweating.

This was lovely. I especially liked the bit about honouring our bodies if we're still feeling too tired to do much despite the pressure from society to be productive from the 1st January onwards. I've been ill for the past few weeks and although I'm improving I still feel quite tired and under the weather so I'm building back up slowly. I've been doing some planning, journaling, painting and a few brief stints outside to get fresh air which all helps.
