While still facing the impacts of El Niño weather pattern, Latin America's agrifood systems are once again on alert: La Niña could be present in the region in the second half of 2024. This alert is a call to better understand this climatic phenomenon and take actions to better anticipate, mitigate and be prepared to respond accordingly.
Strengthening capacities for impact assessment by taking advantage of the latest technological and methodological developments and innovations is an important step in these preparations. In this webinar we will learn about the progress made by FAO, governments and civil society in this area. What systems and tools are being used to assess the impacts of shocks and disasters on agri-food systems? What information are we collecting? How can we use it to reduce the risk that La Niña could bring?
