I love the idea of using the pieces of lace. I would consider sewing little weights, like fishing weights so that the lace doesn’t blow off as easy while cooling.

In the event no fishing weights are around, you could also use washers for weights or jewelry findings that have a little heft to them where they wouldn't be easily blown. (The weight idea also helps the fabric not droop into the food container).

Lulu instead of the sponge I have a better idea. Get a small 2-4 inch plant planter and place sand on the bottom of the planter.Stick the incense in the middle of the sand and the ashes will fall down in planter. Or stick the sponge in the middle of the planter .

For our Berkey I took a 2”x12”x3/4” board, cut a moon shape in the side the Berkey side, screwed the piece of wood to the side of the cabinet then attached Velcro on each end. Now the Berkey sits into this board like a cradle then wrap the Velcro from each side, around the front and the Berkey isn’t going anywhere. Plus it looks good.

For your cabinet door just buy light weight chain, make it the length you need, attach each end and it’ll self store inside when closed but hold the door when open.

Similar to you I had a wall behind my Berkie and I found that a piece of Velcro long enough to go around the top and bottom, making 2 straps, screwed to the wall was more than secure for traveling and wasn’t as difficult to use as a bungee. Also easy to adjust and didn’t mark or scratch the stainless steel.

My husband did something similar to our Berkey with cutting a hole in wood after a night time spill 😂😮…he took one large wooden crate and one small one cut holes the size of the Berkey top and bottom and bingo…sturdy and spill proof ❤

use rubber band or ribbion or thin twine to fasten the screening to the top incase you in a windy place to cool off your food. you can sew button on the ends to weight down the ends find old one don't cost anything

Great fixes, love the way you are going to fix the Berkeley and the scarfs for covering the binge. Going to talk to my husband about doing the same thing with ours. Our bed is now made and working on storage at the head of our bed which will double as a night stand as well. The weights of some king is a great idea to keep it covered and flys out. I was thinking about some type of shower cap or hair net but I like the lace better. Great idea!

I put my stick incense in a used candle jar. Candle remnant still at bottom of jar. Safe. Keeps ashes in jar and won't burn like a dry sponge would.

Delighted with the new and improved Berkey bungee, but love, love, love your ‘Campers of the Sisterhood’ purple bandana on you Berkey-and it serves as a great memory. Re the bracket for your kitchen, you could move the bracket back so it’s between the kitchen and the Berkey stand so you can just use one bolt/nut set, then you could have the nut on the Berkey side since you have more room to play with as opposed to the bin side. Laughed when you mentioned the bear spray, but remember, you can run into all sorts of bears in your travels so it's good to have close by.
