Brian, the initial current draw you saw was your converter ( "converter", not inverter ). When you plug into shore power ( or in this case the bluetti ), the converter takes the 120V and steps it down to 12V for those circuits ( interior lights, etc ), and "also" the converter charges the battery on the tongue of the trailer. "That" is where the power was going: to charge the onboard trailer battery. I also was going to mention the commode, but I see others have reminded you. I too am one that uses the low point drains, in addition to blowing the lines, and then pumping RV antifreeze thru the plumbing.

I camp a fair bit in the winter in below freezing temps, so I just leave the plumbing winterized, and use RV antifreeze to flush the commode. For the more serious daily elimination, I use the campground bathroom facilities. And I use their showers. But it's a lot easier for me on these trips, because it's just me ( and my dog ).

Do you really need that level of blowout in Dallas? A little water in a line is never going to expand enough to hurt anything. Especially if it only gets cold for a brief period overnight. I just went through a brief 26 degree spell here in Tucson and none of my exposed water was impacted (including well and storage tank). You should totally buy that property behind you, looks like it was built on stilts because of the creek behind it and also looks like a commercial property, would be a really cool backyard getaway.

I probably don’t, but my luck, the one time I don’t would be when my pipes burst. The forecast was for it to get down into the teens Monday and Tuesday overnight, so that’s what prompted this👍🏻

In Michigan, we sometimes get weather cold enough to freeze RV sntifreeze(particularly if it is only good to minus 20. Most of the fv antifreeze that I buy is good to minus 50). I usually blow my line out with air then fill them with antifreeze then blow them out again. Never had an issue. bTW, you mentioned that the Chattanooga whiskey was too “hot” at 111 proof. I have several that are in the 125-130 range and the trick is large ice cubes. They will slowly melt and dilute the whiskey to a more tolerable level.

know you just did it to check the battery bank but be very careful microwaving water. the water can actually rise above boiling without actualy boiling and when you pick up the mug and disturb the water it can suddenly boil and well explode scalding water all over you possibly causing some very nasty burns.

I’ve never had a problem yet always blow everything dry with 40-50 psi air even the water heater then leave anode rod out Now I have a tankless no anode and low drains open if you have them. And don’t forget to open fresh water storage tank drains also
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors 4 ай бұрын
So, leave all low point drains open while in storage?
@trevormangus7832
@trevormangus7832 4 ай бұрын
I always do leave a them open it keeps the valves from freezing just in case there is a little water left in line. And I also put some pink antifreeze in p traps pour in the drains and shower drain also I don’t put pink in lines just air but drains I do just in case it gets really cold 🥶

Good deal, thanks. I’ve got to drain the toilet lines in the morning (forgot today) and drain out the gray tank from all the water I pushed out today. I’ll also throw some rv antifreeze in the p traps and toilet bowl to keep the seal fresh. Thanks Trevor👍🏻

Good knowing that your power station can run your RV for boondocking or emergency. That air compressor is pretty sweet. I didn’t know they made battery ones

Also, you can run the slide and the awning without the bluetti or any other shore power. They are 12V, and the battery on the tongue of the trailer will provide that limited amount of power, assuming it's fully charged. I installed a isolation switch on my trailer tongue battery box so I can ensure it is totally disconnected from the trailer when not in use.

I did forget that! Will be clearing that out tomorrow and pouring rv antifreeze in all the p traps before I take it to storage. Will also need to drain out the grey tank again from all the water I pushed through the lines

Did you blow out the toilet? Another suggestion is if you put this camper in public storage get you a couple of apple air pods and hide in it. Cheap insurance. People steal campers every day.

@BrianWatersOutdoors

@williamsuttle3645
@williamsuttle3645 4 ай бұрын
@@BrianWatersOutdoors that initial draw wouldn't have been the fridge then. I was in quartzite before covid hit, and my damn battery was constantly dying, so I replaced it. Well it died, so I charged it, everything was fine I thought. I figured it was the heater killing it, so I just used the oven, well damn battery still died. Come to find out, my propane fridge used a good bit of power even using it on propane. So now I got a 200 amp hour battery and a residential fridge that uses less power than the old propane fridge. I wanted a 12v fridge but they were out. I like that camper you got, that rooftop tent would kill me on that 3rd time I had to get up to pee though. However, I do like it.
