Thank you Kirk for this excellent presentation of what may happen once Gutenberg is released and how that may affect sites using popular page builders. Moral of the story: if you use a page builder that requires shortcodes then you'll likely be heading to a world of hurt.

Nevertheless, Gutenberg meets with a lot of criticism, like any significant change, but we are glad about the Gutenberg editor’s potential to improve the experience of content creation and open up new development prospects.

As a beginner, I found the Avada theme too complicated to use. I requested a refund, albeit after some time. They refused to give me a refund. The reason it was some time later is because I never used the theme.

There will be no turning back to classic editor, you can install a plugin that will restore classic editor but when Gutenberg will be merged in core 5.0, gutenberg will be default so I'm sorry but I think you can't go back with a simple click on a link.

The Classic Editor plugin overrides the Gutenberg editor. That's true both now and in the future. That plugin will be the preferred way to avoid or defer using Gutenberg after it's been merged in core, and released in version 5.0. It is not true that WordPress users will have no option once Gutenberg ships as the default editor.
