I am reminded about Bill Gates who wrote his first program at 13 years old. But here is the difference: nobody forced him to do it. Programming was his hobby, and the computer was his playground. But what we are doing today is forcing our kids to learn things when we need to allow them freedom.

As someone doing Diploma in Data Science and Programming right now, I agree with all the points mentioned in this video. That said, I have discovered that the most important factor for choosing your career is actually not your passion, but your personality. I myself have always been passionate about theoretical physics and wanted to become a researcher, but it simply didn't suit my personality. On the other hand, I had always found coding boring in my school days, but recently realised it suits my personality the best and have now become passionate about it.

Also these reality shows giving a very negative impact on them . whatever they are seeing on tv they are also expecting " mera bacha bhi mera naam roshan karein" . nowadays parents are aggressively making their child to earn , to be extra ordinary.. it's a request from parents dont be so harsh with your child.

Agree with you on not to create fear and pressure but Don't Agree with you on not allowing learning at childhood age. The challenge is you are associating learning with IT and career. Also, such learning has nothing to with other childhood activities when done out of self interest and passion and not by force. Every child is different and not everybody has to become singer. A proper balance is required for overall developement which is true at any age and not just at Childhood. The critical part is way of learning and not the age or learning itself.

Coming from a parent with the same concern how best to nurture my child in a healthy and positive way, I appreciate your candid perspective. My takeaways: 1. Give them the freedom and environment to develop and discover their ikigai 2. Focus on fundamental knowledge instead of tools that may be transient 3. Develop their core skills, namely social skills, teamwork, strategy, empathy. Outdoor team sports is an excellent avenue.

I agree with you on some stuff but if any kid/teenager is interested in AI/Data Science they should go for it and the thing about the math and the fundamental skills is that you learn the best when you know where to apply what you have learned when you are curious about the math behind those fancy frameworks (Tensorflow, Scikit-learn) and you learn it that is when you learn the best I dropped out of high school in 8th grade and it's been almost 1.5 years and right now I am building my own startup company anyskill around AI so if you are interested in AI/Data Science Start learning and creating don't wait for your school or college to finish "Learning to Create, Creating to Learn"

NVIDIA's CEO , Jensun Huang was a table tennis champion. Lewis howes (famous podcaster) was a committed football player and I know so many personally who in their childhood were amazing in sports and extracurricular activities and they used those raw skills to build an amazing careers. I fully support "Creating to learn" concept but the question we need to ask ourselves is "IS it coming at a cost of compromising on *essential childhood activities* ? We are seeing a rise of no code tools and in the future people having core skills (communication, analytical thinking, domain understanding) will shine better than others. I was talking with few indian parents and I'm very disappointed to hear horror stories of a child being pressured just because some e-learning company is using their FOMO fears. Whatever I am saying here is based on REAL EXPERIENCE of me running a successful company and also my past experience of working with big tech companies and mentoring hundreds of junior professionals.

Totally agree. Very well said. I never know how much I get pissed off when these companies call, pester and push the parents to enroll their kids to AI or Coding. Funniest part is they say they have coding classes for 2nd or 3rd grader when these age kids really learn to spell the word coding. Sundar pichai or Sathya nadella did not learn coding in 2nd grade. I would rather blame parents trying to push these children to learn something that is not necessary. What will a future doctor or even a designer or artist has to do with coding?

Namai I am in a different situation from you but yes, you can learn data science from online. Google certificate course on Coursera gives what you study as a start. You can do the entire course without paying but you won't get a certificate without paying. Do projects on your own (see KZbin videos that guide you on projects to do) and that will help you build your resume/profile for free. The Google course is very good. It will also give you guidance on building resume etc.

Everyone wants to go behind the trending technologies in demand right now, this huge supply can create imbalance in supply-demand chain and after few years the course or technology itself will become overrated. From last academic year many Engineering colleges have started engineering in AI/ML if u see that syllabus its a very basic one and same faculties are trained to teach that who just give theoritiacal knowledge. So again when u come out after 4 yrs u need to join some course to have actual knowledge and experience from industry experts. Offcourse few talents explore and learn it on their own but majority needs proper guidance.

If parents are professionals in any area they can teach the skills they know happily and slowly to their kids. If farmers think let my kid not learn farming from childhood there won't be any farmer left in the world because working in fields is not a job you can pick right after college graduation. What about Carnatic music, classical dance, playing music instruments, kunfu, math Olympiads, science Olympiads, public speaking, spell bee etc In western countries parents are teaching programing for kids from the age of 7. For physical or mental or emotional activates body should be trained. Current Indian education is taught without practical application. Datascience and machine learning is practical application of Math. If you know matrices and transforming them their application is one way of solving ML problems. If you know probability it practical application is ML. If you know calculus its practical application is ML. If you know algebra its practical application is ML. I dont know what you are saying and you should stop giving bad advices. Experts are born only when they learn skills from childhood. With technology it keeps evolving. Learning how to apply Mathematics is never a bad thing. If you are still thinking of a world where kids learn only one thing that is wrong assumption, kids learn lot of things. Making sure that they learn things with enthusiasm is key. As an Senior ML engineer i know what ML is and i know what i am talking. I think you don't know what Datascience and ML is and you are scared of it, so you started scaring others too. Its like giving a telescope to kids to look at sky to find patterns, Kids will love it. Don't scare parents and kids with your half-knowledge.
