Top tip for wet weather riding Freddie. Hiking gaiters! Cheap and easy to put on and take off. When your waterproof trousers ride up your boot or leg the gaiters protect your boots and lower half of your leg. ☘️

Quick tip Freddie. Put ALL your sleep system and clothes into the waterproof roll top bag. Not your tent. Doesn't matter if the tent gets wet. and if you are packing it away wet you need to keep it away from the dry stuff. Good luck!!

Freddie, the change of colour would occur even if you used any motor oil. That in itself isn't the measure of the effectiveness of Lanoguard, it is the fact that it stops the advance of the rust completely. It doesn't cure rust or remove it.

The best thing any rider can invest in in my opinion is a merino wool base layer. Wool is a miracle material, the lanolin naturally in it makes it excellent at comfortably keeping heat. Even if you wind up sweating in it, wool retains its thermal properties unlike synthetics. Merino is so soft it doesn't (for the majority, anyway) irritate at all. Cotton is garbage for under layers.

I can confirm Lanoguard is a great protective coating for the underside of your Jeep, I have used it on my 1964 Hotchkiss Jeep. Apart from its environmental benefits you don’t have the issues with other products which sting when you get them unintentionally in a cut or strong lasting unpleasant aroma on you , which doesn’t go away quickly. Good choice Freddie.

Sounds like a great trip Freddie. Done loads of bike camping in all weathers. Made every mistake in the book. Camping can be absolutely wonderful or completely and utterly miserable. The difference is a few basic skills and some good quality clobber. Cheap sleeping bags have the insulation properties of a plastic bag! Buy a bag rated for 10 degrees below the temperature you expect to experience. Likewise, cheap and nasty tents usually leak and collapse in the wind. Like most things in life you pay for what you get. Freezing your knackers off at 3am in a wet tent is properly over rated. Spend a small bit more and enjoy a comfortable nights Kip.

Been using Lanoguard on my Alfa 159 for two years now (they are bad for rotting out subframes and rear suspension arms) , what i like about it is it goes on like water so gets everywhere water would, dries into a nice waxy residue, as someone else mentioned it doesn't cure the rust but it will slow it down which is good enough. I found the spray applicator rubbish, second time i used a cheap plant spray bottle from B&Q, worked ace, not used the tub of moto grease for anything yet.

1) Warm the engine before draining the oil. 2) Is the oil level supposed to be checked on or off the centre stand. It makes a difference and changes depending on the bike. 3) Chain and motorcycle manufacturers say to use 80 or 90 weight gear oil to use on chains. Sprays are just grinding paste.
