Hi Steve, informative video, thank you. When doing alignment ,I have made "grease plates". Two 300mm square sheets of 2mm steel, with grease between them, under each wheel. When you adjust the tracking, there is no friction between the tyres and the floor. Saves rolling the car to settle it down after adjustment , and easy to turn the rod ends. Just the way I learned years ago.

Hi, I'll be circuit racing in the 750 motor club F1000 series. It's the fourth fastest series in the UK. I'm a little in over my head but love to work on the car and will hopfully get up to speed with the racing. Thanks again for the great content.

Two questions, the coolant you added had color. Are you allowed to use anti-freeze or is something like Wetter Water (Motorcycle coolant)? Secondarily, I notice you have a rear wing. Is that permitted in your FF class? Thank you. Love the systematic calm (non-dramatic) video.
@D3Sshooter6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comments, Yes Anti-freeze is allowed in the class but you must have a spill-over tank for both the oil and cooling. Yes rear and front wings are allowed as this is a Super Formula Ford uses a 2ltr engine ( pinto) . . The Formula Ford does not allow it and runs on a kent 1600 engine

Very good. Liked the reminder about your toe in method. Was this in your recently renovated building?

The floor looks great!! Looking at the tires, that you had on, You for sure needed more negative camber. My only question, are you using "Old Rusty" as your transit vehicle? LOL I miss Old Rusty.

How do you decide the toe angles given the next track, do you have some kind of history log to decide?

Hi Steve, is this the Pinto 2.0l engine we saw last time? Thanks for the education. Kindest regards

I was surprised when the toe in was out of adjustment. Were you changing the setup for today's track?

It's a long story, last time on the Spa-Francorchamps track I had some stability issues.. so during one of the breaks a friend came by as he had the tools with them.. and we did a quick re-alignment ( should never do that) .. There was not a lot of time and I had to do other things to get ready. So my friend ( race driver) proposed to try more Toe out. Not something I ever do... But OK, I let him do so... It was even worse after that... As you could see, that was way to much Toe Out. So this time , I took the time to re-align the car.... Will see hoe it goes... Its the kind of things I try to avoid on the track as it always in a hurry and to many mistakes are made... Unless you have a team.... I am a one man team, sponsor, driver, mechanic, logistician all of that... Noit leaving a lot of time in between the runs ( typical 1hr).

@@D3Sshooter I see. A good learning exercise then......and, a validation of your usual methods. I'm confident you'll find the "sweet spot" in terms of handling.

@@oleran4569 Yes indeed...nothing beats your methods .... are you into racing and what do you race ?
@oleran45698 ай бұрын
@@D3Sshooter Sadly, no. I find the tech interesting and enjoy your presentation of it.

I think I've mentioned this before here but, whenever make adjustment involving the tires(toe/camber) you need to rock the car back and forth a meter or so then recheck your settings. What happens is that the tire rubber will distort as to not actually corresponding to the measurement indicated. ETA: Toe and camber should be done with weight of driver in car.
