Hi Jennifer. Thanks for stopping by this series and I'm so glad you are finding it helpful. I'm hoping it provides a good foundation of skills for many new shooters. :) One can accomplish so much before ever going to the range for the first time. The experience will be so much more productive and pleasant.

Better than the vast majority of handgun technique videos out there. Clear, easy to understand information. Good ol' Kentucky windage (and elevation.)

This is the first explanation of where the pressure is directed when pressing the trigger. For along time I was using my hand and milking the grip. This video correctly tells one to press only from pad to web. Well done and thanks.

This series rocks! You explain things well, and from a female perspective. I can't do that for my wife who is just learning how to shoot. Thank you!

Hello, this vid is great, very concise. As an experienced but new shooter and seeing perhaps, hundreds of other vids not many talk about trigger control. I've only fun across two others in my recent months. Since, learning about torquing the gun I've become a better shot. Thank you for this. Guys can get some incite from a skilled woman's perspective.

Further to my last comment. I've discovered that a good way to develop the feel of the press is to drop ALL the lower fingers away plus thumb off away so only pad and web are on the gun. Then press to the web with the trigger finger. This compression is the thing to learn. You don't NEED the rest of the hand to fire the shot. Other fingers are for keeping the gun from moving during a string of shots.

Very good video presentation. I too am a guy and watched this for my wife but find that all instructional videos should be as good.

You don't have to justify yourself for watching a woman's produced video by saying it's for your wife if the producer is good at what she does.

Hi Colleen, I have read some articles and watched some youtube videos and they suggested your index finger to be placed parallel to the gun frame and not leaving any gap between the finger and the frame. If I do that with one of my guns the finger is placed touching the trigger just in the first flange joint and not in the middle of the fingertip because I have large hands. I saw in your video that you are leaving that gap between the finger and the frame. What is the correct way?
