Matt transforms the sternpost of Tarkine from just the back end of the boat to a fair and functioning construction, ready for a rudder.
This involves cutting a scollop shape into the aft face so the rudder will have a place to sit and rotate. This involves a lot of different tools and lots of perseverance.

Nail a sacrificial wood block in front of holesaw for the pilot. Just keep moving it down 40mm at a time. You are making progress. 😊

Menue du jour... Cooked drills, Wine or soup fillets, your choice, side of saw dusted boring bars and caramelized ( foggy) protective eye ware with 5 different hammer choices for desert. You both know how to serve it up. Put it on the map to visit in Hawaii. Big love from Big Island.

Very watchable! Good lighting, good proportions for speaker with background. Nice mix of words and work. They will send you a plaque when you get to 10K subs. I reckon before the end of the year.

Great perseverance in figuring out how to over come the obstacles. As we say here in Texas: there's more than one way to skin a cat! Keep up the good work.

A lot of us would’ve cut the rudder channel on the bench instead of the boat. The same people always thank me for my timely thoughts.

You should grab yourself one of those clear shields that flip up like a welding helmet. They work well instead of glasses and they protect your eyes, mouth complete face, bigtime.

A nice bit of engineering. Having that scallop is going to allow a very close fit for the rudder and a really smooth water flow. The boat will be able to ghost along without leaving a ripple.

Three little tips that may come in handy for some occasions. If using a ship auger bit with a worm screw, have a second bit without the worm screw to finish the hole and prevent blowout. When using a hole saw, stop when the pilot bit protrudes and finish the hole from the other side. When driving bolts, use a pneumatic hammer drill on hammer and an old blown out bit without the spade to drive them through. Work saver.

You could've done that with a plane, a plane with a convex bottom/blade edge. to get a concafe result. But this works too.

Just watching Sailing Project Atticus, series 8, episode 27, where he is installing a blower to overcome alternator overheating in Greek heat. Might be a good addition for that confined engine box you are building . What days are you at the shed ?

A hole saw with an extended stem lead by a (steel, PVC, wooden) guide/pipe would have probably done the job. Haha, 2 secs later you started using a hole saw...

All these boats are the same! - bow at the front, rudder in the back...I'd like to see a like more creativity! I see a sanding form (soup can) that is nearly a meter long, long enough to broach the propeller cut-out. To ensure a straight 'scallop' for the rudder to fit.
