Our last day in St. Croix is spent preparing for our 400 mile sail to Grenada. We get Jetty's health certificate from the vet, fuel/water up in Christiansted Harbor, Provision, and do some laundry. Our last long Caribbean sail for a while!

I commented in the past about your flag. I like to see how proud you both are. You should keep the old one, fold it up and place it in a nice box. Then list all the places it's been flown. Kind of like a keep sake memory. I know while traveling in other countries it's was hard to find a new one, but having a flag is better than no flag. The old one has lots of stories behind it. Now to create new ones. Safe travels and smooth sailing my friends.

We used a in line water filter when taking on water at any marina. If your water tanks become comprised you'll start using one also. ♡

Billy and Sierra, we LOVE your videos and have watched them all through this one (almost caught up)! Just want to make you aware of one small thing... without fail, every time you start your engine and the alarm sounds, my sweet (not-skittish) cat named Stanley Bostitch wakes up and jumps from sleeping in my lap and runs to the other room in a panic. I am glad I did not ask about the Vice Grip Throttle many videos ago now this explains it. Interesting the sequence of videos I am sure it difficult to keep them sorted out sometimes. Do not worry anything you publish is entertaining. Sometimes I think the camera takes the fun out of life but that helps keeping you two on the go. Showing the dirty laundry the mess on board plus the food that ahh molded is all a part of life. This makes you guys more approachable and normal. It is one of those things that people forget traveling and sailing is not all Bikinis, Surf, Sand, and Shade there is real life involved. Aloha guys enjoy until the next time.

Replying to your comment about flag display, always best to display the best. Perhaps plan ahead and have a few backup flags available when needed? Personally I do not fly a tattered flag, I am also not sitting on a sailboat.... :) I can run down to the quick stop and buy a flag for about $5.00 or go to a near by Lowes and get one that will last for a long time for around $25.00. I usually go to Lowes..... :)

Well Billy, you asked so here it is: In 1942 President Roosevelt signed into law "The Flag Code". Section 176 (k) of the code states: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning". So I guess the decision on if it is still flyable and not disrespectful is up to you. The good news is that no one has been arrested for this yet. 😊

The throttle assembly you have is a Morse/Teleflex . Because of the cost of parts for that unit you should try to fix what you have. Worst case repair ? Clean the shift arm and the end of the shaft with 3M grease and adhesive remover, see if you can install a new set screw to hold the throttle arm on, also use 5 min epoxy made for steel by Loctite..

I am a proud American and a Disabled Veteran. When I see a tattered old flag. I stop and replace them with ones I keep with me at all times. However, as you stated, you are looking for one and that is fine. I say fly it until you can replace it. But if you have never heard it. KZbin Johnny cash's song, "Ragged Ole Flag". It will tell you a story you wont soon forget.
