We also open all the cupboards and lockers so there is no condensation inside. Anything to help free circulation of air is good. The other thing we do about once a month and before we start to use it again in the spring, is to run a dehumidifier in the van for a couple of hours. That produces about 5-7 litres of water in our 27 year old 5.5 metre Hymer C Class. It's pretty amazing to see.

Great point, Phil.

Thanks for commenting, @Crusty_Camper. The air the dehumidifier is replaced with air from outside. I don't think it will really help unless you've got damp or misty windows

@@HermanHitstheRoad It's self-contained and recycles air in the van. There is gradual replacement from outside but it reduces the moisture in the soft furnishings. I find it helps, specially the session before using the van in Spring.

First year I had my caravan with a flushable toilet I left a small amount of water in the flush tank. It expanded as you said and broke the pump seal housing on the flush. Didn't find out until we tried to use it on site in the spring. Managed to fix it with a couple of zip ties!

I think we all learn from our mistakes, @jonk5755. Thanks for commenting

My advice is make sure your shower head and pipe if you have one dangle into the bottom basin as water can still be in the head and pipe. They freeze and can crack as we found out. Mouse deterrents fitted inside and under bonnet. Close air heater vents in dashboard to recirculating as mice can enter and come out in footwear vents. George

I just did mine a few days ago, as we had guests over Christmas sleeping there. I had never heard of doing that with the gas, but I will do it anyway, as it can't hurt. Happy New Year to you both and I am looking forward to your videos in the coming year.

Very timely advice about water drainage with the current freezing conditions. I’ve never heard of switching gas off but it does make sense. As I use Wanda as my daily drive I can’t leave the bathroom door or freezer box open. We’ve not had any problems yet but would appreciate any ideas you have to protect these areas. I do use the bags and they are collecting water but that is probably because the inside of Wanda gets warm when I’m using her. Take care Gill

It sounds like you're doing the right thing, Gill. You're using Wanda and it gets warm so the crystals will collect water.
