As tempted as I am to vote for the practicality of finishing as many things as you can, it's always better to do what you enjoy. Especially if it's going to be a big time commitment.

This is it exactly, it's head vs heart I think. But people really seem to be on Team Dragon so that's fine by me :D

I'm literally stitching on his tiny lil claws right now, completely in love with the fella! But I did use him last time, and people have seen a LOT of photos of blue grey dragon guy lately, so I was thinking some variety might be in order lol

LOVE Your Enthusiasm and inviting and saving a place at the table for ALL…I adore cross stitching legacy biscornus for my five GrandKiddos Christmas 2024 gifts from Granny….But You had me at the suggestion of KNITTING …..I so appreciate making your own rules that allows so many to play…..

If there's one thing I learned from trying to join in things like this as a new crafter, it's that they can be overwhelming, or fall at the wrong time, or just stress you out in general. So I am all about just taking a step back and remembering...it's crafting. Do whatever keeps it fun!

Rather conveniently I have nothing to do from tomorrow… it appears I’ll be stitching all weekend then! I was waiting for an excuse to start a New Cross stitch project rather than finish the one I’m currently stitching 😂

Oh, perfect timing! I have a cross stitch deadline next weekend (it's a present), so I was planning on spending as much of this one cross stitching as possible anyway! Thanks for the heads up in advance this time, I usually only hear about these challenges after the fact.

I always love your vlogs, and thank you for the heads up about this! I very much want to participate, although I always work until 10 Friday night, and then all day Saturday and Sunday. My weekends start when I get off work at 10 Monday night and then Tuesday and Wednesday, so I may have to switch it up a little, and adjust the rules a bit. But it would be great to spend some dedicated time on a summer sampler I can’t seem to finish, so it can replace the Springtime one in the same series, which has been up since last spring lol. I love the autumn stories one you’ve been doing, but I think I agree with the majority, it seems, about the dragon ☺️
@TheGiddyStitcher
@TheGiddyStitcher 6 ай бұрын
That seems like an entirely valid rule variation to me, even the hardcore folks couldn't deny the timing is unfair on weekend workers. Best of luck and I hope you can finish the summer piece, ready to start the inevitable autumn and winter ones!

I started the Peppermint Purple 2022 SAL after seeing your project. I am still VERY behind. Then, I started two PPSAL for 2023. Both are unfinished. But I have like 6 other smaller projects I want to finish and even more I haven't even started yet. I guess any progress is progress.
@TheGiddyStitcher
@TheGiddyStitcher 3 ай бұрын
Often when I take out that SAL and look at it and then put it away again, I think of you and wonder how far ahead of me you are now. So this cheered me up immensely, haha 😅 Maybe I'll make finishing that into a goal for the back end of the year, really buckle down and get it done. On the other hand, there are so many other projects to start...

Oooh, this is tempting. I may stitch along for part of it as i'm also musing about going to a quilt fair and food festival this weekend...ah decisions! As for your project, go with the one you love to stitch the most, then swap over every few hours to stitch a bit of the others! 😊❤🎉

Tbh some people who have busy weekends coming up seem to have set their own rules and already started! I've seen a few also say they'll just track their time and see how many days it takes to hit 24. So all kinds of variations already in play, here 😄 That sounds like a super fun weekend, think of us all huddled over our stitching with our aching wrists while you're looking at all those pretty quilts 😅

@TheGiddyStitcher ah, well, since you've sort of given me permission (ahem 😉) I'm starting tonight and am going to track my time for 24hours! I love the "no rules" concept! 🥰🤗😇. Good luck to everyone participating. Happy Stitching 😊.

You'll be fine, it's pretty much just a group chat split out into different topic channels. And if it's too much (we have lots of new people excitedly chattering away atm, it's usually much quieter!), you can mute the other channels and just join in the 24hocs one. If you have any trouble just give us a shout! :)

I vote for working on whichever project you are enjoying until you need a break from it and then stitch something else. You could always do a new start also. I have a few Wips that were Sal's from 2020 still so I think you're good. I don't know how much I'll be participating this time around. I'll be visiting my son in Madison Thursday to Saturday and helping him start to pack since he's moving next week.

I suggest mixing it up. Working on finishing touches as well as making some progress on sth you really enjoy. I rarely pick up cross stitch, though I do like it a lot once I actually get going). So, I'll try to pop in. I have a few things that need finishing touches. I am eyeing your bench design as well as the corner garden. Both really speak to me. So, I guess you got a new member :D I also need to venture around Mastodon a bit more again (maybe the event will be a good reason to get more involved) - haven't done so since I signed up, lol. As I'd have to post from PC (I know they are apps but I don't want too much stuff on my phone as it distracts me enough already; and I hate to type on my phone) I found that to be a bit of a chore. Plus, mental health was iffy for a while.

Ok right first of all, thank you so much! Second of all, confession time. I don't like to flit around on multiple projects during 24hocs because I like seeing what a full 24 hours progress on one thing really looks like. It's just very pleasing to me. Like a science experiment! Yes I know this is a bad reason but it's what my brain wants 😅 And third but most importantly don't ever feel like you need to explain not being all over social media. It can be overwhelming and annoying, and I totally agree about typing on phones! Luckily I live on my laptop, hah! Not been in the best place myself lately, I hope you're feeling better or at the very least I hope you do soon

"as you get older, time starts to fly" - yes, this might be because, as time goes by, we 1. Organize our lives into more routines, and 2. Do not have as many new experiences and do not learn as many new things. So our brains "compress" the memories and make it feel like it's not been that long. Sorry, I'm weird! Yeah, I have not heard of this event. I'm not on Facebook, not because I am "young", but for my own reasons 😅 I have a SAL I am desperately trying to "catch up" to, but not sure I can cobble together a whole 24 hours. And I never stitch with timers. Maybe I'll give it a whirl though, stitch as much as I feel like this weekend, but time it and count up the hours :D

I've never heard of this. But would like to try it. I may have to do it longer than three days. I have arthritis in my hands and don't know if I could stitch that long in one day. But maybe it would help get some of my wips finished or at least some good progress. I need to stop watching flosstube videos. I get totally enabled. Now I have to go find the steampunk world. I'll just blame you for it. lol

I hereby accept all responsibility, haha! Honestly I've often changed my personal rules just depending on how busy I am and how I'm feeling, last time we had at least one person who completed 24 over the whole week and I've definitely known people do longer too. Whatever is doable and fun, really, there are no 24hocs police (at least, that I know of 👀)
