Oh my goodness! This is exactly what I'm doing right now, for my best friend! She found 63 embroidered panels her dear friend, who died several years ago, had hand embroidered. She asked me to make 7 quilt tops for her 7 granddaughters. What a challenge! but well worth the effort for my friend.

I enjoyed your video very much. I ama 68 yrs. old and have been embroidering since I was 9. For the past 30 years, I have concentrated on crewel embroidery. I have done some quilting and enjoyed it, but not as much as embroidery. However, when my husband retired a few years ago, he took up quilting with a passion. To my surprise he did an excellent job. We have been thinking about combining our skills and making wall hangings with a crewel embroidered center, and a quilt of a compatible pattern surrounding it. Your video wasn't exactly what we are considering doing, but it was encouraging. Thank you so much.

Wow! That was a lot of work Ms. Lois put into those squares. I've never pieced my backing before to put a label on. I usually turn under the edges of the label & sew it directly to the quilt back before hand quilting. I like how the 10th piece was the label. Awesome idea. 😊

Wonderful and beautiful memory quilt. I have been doing a few with hand embroidered pieces left by my relatives. Embroidered pieces need Pellon Shapeflex on the back, just like a T-shirt/baby clothes quilt. It stabilizes the embroidery stitches and prevents distortion of the embroidery. This method is used by most memory quilters and kits that combine hand embroidery and pieced blocks.

Depending on the piece, yes. These didn’t need anything as they were sturdy.
