The chicks are probably also good for getting rid of grubs and such huh? What a great idea having the chickens turning over your soil in the off-season.

It's been working out real nice. As for grubs, my one dog loves digging them up for snacks, so now my yard looks like the lunar landscape. I fill in the holes every so often, but she's a good digger.

I completely understand why you don't want to buy a new tiller but if your spending a $100 a year to rent it why not just take that money and get a used one on market place or local shoppers guide paper and then sell it whenever you get ready to leave for New York or maybe even just take it with you and just use in New York for the smaller jobs and have it for your side business and offer another service to be able to make more money...... besides most used tiller can be up and running with a carb rebuild kit or maybe even just clearing the carb and putting it back together bc so many people leave fuel in them and then it won't start so they just give up on them now days LOL

Thanks in large part to you we got our first chicks (about 3 weeks old now), we got 3... Is it too late to add manure (commercial bags, not uncured), I will be putting my plants to earth in a week or so. Thanks Brother

Honestly, I don't think so, just mix it in real good so there aren't any heavy spots! Good work on getting the chickens. We are now up to 20 and are getting a dozen and a half eggs every day. Dogs and family love all the fresh food. We do feed our chickens food scraps, but they also get feed from tractor supply. It costs me about $60 to $70 a month to feed them, and we get around 500 eggs a month. Cheaper in the long run it looks like.

Would this be hard for someone not very strong to operate? I'm not weak, just a bad back, or my 17 yr old son could do it? 6 ft 155 lbs. Thanks much
@GettinJunkDone Жыл бұрын
I'm not the strongest and I was literally throwing it around. I'm 6 ft and 190ish. 17 year should be able to find a rhythm after a few minutes.

Any concern with taking too much of the "chicken dirt" away from the chickens? Do they need certain type of soil to be happy and healthy?
@davidwood17823 жыл бұрын
Not in my experience, no. They only forage in dirt and dust bathe. Which they can do both in regular dirt or their own "chicken dirt." If your chickens are close to the house, you'll want to remove the "chicken dirt" due to smell 🤣

Well, I grew up and still live in Jersey, right outside of Philly. Sadly, this is the accent I'm stuck with, lol.

How long did it take you to till your garden and size of garden? I'm looking at renting one for a 50 x 50 area.
@GettinJunkDone3 жыл бұрын
I was able to go over our 20 X 10 garden several times in a 30 mins or so. It works well.
