Hi Stu, greetings from Canada. I agree that rack looks great. It transforms and even, to my eye, saves that bike which had looked unfinished before.

I don’t have a Bobber but this rack design certainly looks like a stock part for this motorcycle. It also gives it a very retro look to it that again looks like it was part of the original bike design. I want a Bobber now just because of this rack!!

I’d maybe suggest a smaller bit for the pilot holes, 2mm, for those not used to doing this sort of thing, then a 4mm and so on, and if they aren’t new, go and buy some new bits. Looks nice.

I managed to do the NC500 (from Bristol, via Snowdonia, Yorkshire and Cairn Gorms - so just shy of 2k miles in all) and my Bobber did really well. Tank bag, backpack and H&B panniers (one had clothes, the other had 5 ltrs of extra fuel). Happy times!!!😄

I had an issue with the Voyager rack hitting the two screws in the TRIUMPH badge on the back of the seat when going over bad bumps. I think my rack is set even further back than Stuart's too. I just moved the seat a little more forward and now it seams fine. Just a light black touch up paint to cover the two dings on the rack and it's almost undetectable. I love this bike more and more every day. Thanks Stuart.

The Bobber is looking lovely, and the Motone rack looks great. I wish they made more parts for the Interceptor. It is a testament to your video making that I can end up watching a whole video of you fitting a luggage rack to a motorcycle that I don't own and ostensibly have no interest in. That said, the techniques you include in these type of videos have wider uses as good practice. 👍

Stu. Love your vids as I do (and I can see your window from my Dad's house on the South Bank), this reminds me of why, back in the 70's - and until now, I decided that Japanese technology was for me. So, with a collection from my 1969 CB750 Sandcast, through to my daily rider, a 2020 Africa Twin, I have to say that I was delighted yesterday when my Givi monolock rack arrived, and is now looking stunning on my "Retirement" bike, without chopping, drilling, taping / scratching or welding - and I am confident I could build a small house on it, without a fear of bending my rear muddy !! Just sayin' Stu. Just sayin 😁. Lovely vid - as allus pal 👍

Wanting to do a Gibbonslap-style build with my SR400, this rack would really tick all the boxes if the mounting points aren't too wide for my skinny rear fender. 1. Looks great. 2. Fantastic quality. 3. Highly functional. 4. All of the above while costing 100 pounds less than the Kedo part. Thanks for the informative video as usual!

Nahthen from Lincoln. Hugely interesting vid for those of us who plan to have a Bobber in the near future and planning customisation in our heads even before we have the bike. As soon as I've ordered mine Motone are going to be receiving a rather substantial Cactus order from me 😁That rack looks fantastic and my heart leaped when I first saw the pic with it fitted - at last, I thought, a good looking solution to something I had basically given up on, maybe i would not have to make the sacrifice of not being able to carry more luggage in order to own that style of bike after all - A SOLUTION!!! But I have to admit, finding out the need to drill holes in the mudguard horrified me! There's no going back once the first hole is drilled. It's so permanent - irreversible. I would love to have the solution that looks like your rack, but - and this is only me - structurally altering the mudguard is probably a step too far for me, my OCD would probably shift into overdrive and self destruct lol. The other solutions on the market don't suit either, so I suppose I'll just carry on as I do now, with a good sturdy vintage East German Army rucksack that packs plenty and cost £9 from an Army surplus store 😁. But another brilliantly executed massively interesting vid with a really interesting product that will be a superb solution for many others. And great to see your Bobber get another airing 👍

This is a brilliant video Stu. I don't own a Bobber but the practices you exercise here are easily transferable to any bike and are therefore invaluable imo. I recently installed the 'Pyramid' rear tyre hugger on my Himalayan for example, which also uses thick compression rubber washers and alloy internal sleeves. I also have a very much 'belt and braces' approach to rust protection. Which rust protection product did you use here by the way? Many thanks 🙂

Great stuff as always! As I have been accustomed to women approaching me with a cloudlike veil in their eye´s in let´s say restaurants, just because I ordered a stew. Uncle Stu, I wonder if there is a more comfortable seat for the Bobber.? I mean with old school springs and all that would make sitting for longer sessions a more bearable affair? For me I mean, the chicks can take the bus. Keep up the good work!

OMG - drilling the mudguard! That's the reason I never mounted a pedestrian slicer on the C5. This one is a really sleek item though. What we need now is a well designed tank rack like those of yore - screw-ins are not fashionable anymore (unless you weld some nuts on the tank and that is a no-no for a host of reasons), suction cup ones seem too in danger of flying away (I know Motone manufactures that version, I just don't like suction cups)... what could be the answer, really strong magnets (rubber coated, that goes without saying)?

Triumph Bobber’s swing arm, tyre and mudguard all move together at the same time. It’s like one part. So like Stu said, no, no risk. But… the big minus of this design will be that putting any luggage on your rack will increase the weight of the unsprung mass. It will definitely affect functioning of your rear suspension. Bobber’s design simply doesn’t allow much in that regard.
