as a chinese person usually these recipes look really bad, but your recipe is actually really good! Not completely authentic but at least it will taste delicious! Some tips though: 1. For stir fried food, you dont have to peel the ginger if you give them a good wash (the leftovers last longer too!) Also, if you don’t want too many overpowering chunks of ginger, slice them thickly instead of mincing them and just fish them out by the end, the flavours will still infuse! 2. For your chicken marinade, add around half an egg white as well, this will actually tenderize the chicken and give it a nicer texture just like a good Chinese takeout. 3. Add half the spring onions when you cook the vegetables, this will release more fragrance into the oil instead of almost “boiling” them at the end! Enjoy!!

I doubled this recipe for 4 adults - we all really enjoyed it!! I made it with what was in the fridge/pantry so I used chili flakes (1.2tsp), grated the ginger, used a dry white wine and added broccoli florets. I will be adding this dish into the rotation, it's not often that a new recipe gets a thumbs up from everyone at the table. Thanks for a tasty weekday meal that comes together easily. Keep up the great videos!

I just had Kung pao chicken tonight from my takeout. I can't imagine living somewhere without Chinese takeout. I understand living in a town that is small with hardly any stores I know I pass through it on the way to Waterbury to visit my grandmother and family. And I say to my self Hello John and Brian lol. Glad you started making your own in this case. Your food looks amazing John as always!

This was really good and not hard to make at all. I added 2 cloves of garlic because, well, we love garlic. Those peanuts make the dish. My only criticism is the recipe on the website calls for 3 tbsp. of sugar in the sauce and the video says 2. I went with the 3 (I had already put it in before I realized the difference). Next time I’m increasing the recipe so we have more leftovers! This will definitely become a staple in our house. Thanks, John. You’ve never steered me wrong.

Actually regarding bell peppers French chefs will never use green bell peppers as they are bitter let alone the fact that they are NOT ripe! Each colour is indicative of its ripeness with red being the absolute best and the sweetest !

Here in Hong Kong it's usually cashews instead of peanuts, but why not both? And if you want to keep them crunchy, add them in right before dishing. BTW, salt in soy sauce not only adds flavour but acts as a preservative. That's why low-sodium soy sauce contains other chemicals that extend its shelf life. If that concerns you, use regular soy sauce in smaller quantities.
@alpukat_cereals3 жыл бұрын
Indonesia also use peanuts for this, cashews only used at fancy restos. Here is a big/main producer of cashews but we dont take it fussy

100%. At first I was willing to give John the benefit of the doubt and assume "exactly the same" was only referring to the bell pepper plant and not how they taste. Then he made that comment about "some people" thinking they taste different. Red, orange and yellow bell peppers are sweet. Green bell peppers taste like sadness.
