Preptober: My Scrivener Set-Up

I feel so overwhelmed by my current scrivener layout, and your set up makes so much sense to me! So lucky this showed up in my recommended.

I felt that way too, overwhelmed. But I was reminded to keep it super simple, and I did by duplicating my bullet journal. Wishing your scrivener journey a pleasant experience. Happy Writing!

I LOVE your scrivener setup and omg that BACKGROUND is perfect. It was really cool to get to know your characters I can see so clearly how interesting and quirky the story will be-I love Chewy and that cat and Bae already 😂

Oh this was good. I never used scrivener. I will have to try it, but I heard there’s a learning curve, however you made it look 👀 pleasing to the eyes. I’ll wait for your tutorials and learn as I go.

The only learning curve is trying to do what others are doing... start fresh customize it how you actually write. I'll do some future videos and hopefully you can cater it to your preference. Good luck on Nano this year.

Wow! Tish, this is a massively helpful video. Structure and preparation in such detail! I have found your video to be really inspiring. I don't have Scrivener but use Ulysses, and watching your ideas and comments about scene development, and organisation has really given me some extra valuable insight that I can use for these next few days before we each launch off into NaNoWriMo. On the calender: You can make a set of tables. The name of the month is a table and the days are another. Also try importing your google calendar as a webpage.

Thank you... it was actually fun setting everything up. I kept reminding myself to KISS (keep it super simple). My characters are hilarious, those old folks are into more shenanigans than the younger people in my story.

Love this!! i still havent figured out how to add a calender either, so i just made a calender like table in microsoft word, and then copied it into scivener and i can fill it out there

Hi Tish, thank you for this helpful video. Regarding the calendar, I've been unable to get my Google or Outlook calendar to show up as a webpage inside Scrivener. I think the problem is that the online Calendar must view Scrivener as an unfamiliar location and expects you to sign in with your id and password, but there is no way to do that. The only way I've found to have access is simply to copy the calendar link to a document within Scrivener and then open the link from within Scrivener which takes you to the calendar online. Then it's easy to toggle back and forth between Scrivener and the online calendar (in Windows, using the Alt-Tab keys). This method is clumsy, but it works. Maybe someone has a more elegant method and could post it here.

Hi there, could someone help me understand why the cursor, which used to positioning itself in the middle of the composition mode screen, doesn't want to do that any more? Before, if I start to write at the top of the screen, the cursor will relocate itself to the centre of the screen so I didn't have to scroll down, or up during writing. Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is go the preference, - editing- scroll to the bottom Use block insertion point and make sure it’s checked in inspector mode. The width is 2 points. If all else fail reboot your computer and then reopen Scrivener. Let me know if this works I’ll continue to look for answers.
