19:06 - I am so grateful you just mentioned about the sacred aspect of priesthood and women in the temple. I am a temple worker just about 7 months now. This gift of being able to perform ordinances for other women in such a holy manner is a deep deep honor for me, one I have been working hard to prepare for the weeks between my shifts at the temple. ❤ preparing has made all the difference in purifying my life to be worthy to be able have such sacred experiences and understandings, my mind and heart opened as I serve there. I fall short but I can feel that the momentum of my efforts is kicking in and pulling me forward, causing me to crave after beauty, virtue, loveliness, softness, and I just can’t get enough of what I am learning inside and outside of the temple. ❤❤❤

Early in my marriage my husband was working all the time and was called to be a ward missionary. I didn’t have a calling. I went out with the sister missionaries 3 times a week. I went to the bishop and asked, “ Why didn’t you call me? I don’t have a job.” He said, You didn’t need to be called to do something you are already doing.”

So, this also refers to the priesthood. We carry life. We already take on so much! My husband is an amazing priesthood holder and leader, by being a servant to others, humble living and keeping himself worthy and fasting weekly to be able to give a blessing at any moment. When he is gone and I need priesthood strength I pray in the name of Jesus and by the power of the Melchezadek priesthood which my eternal companion holds and is worthy of and would impart to me if he were here…. We as companions or daughters draw upon the priesthood after the order of the son of God. We have access.

For people who are not yet familiar with her, Dr. Barbara Morgan Gardner is a Rock Star. Period. Yes, I am a major fan girl. Dr. Morgan Gardner has done life changing work for women (and men) in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a convert of (as of 2025) of close to 50 years. I told the missionaries I wanted to be baptized at my second lesson after reading the Book of Mormon I was given at the first lesson. Like many others, I "heard" so much of women being second class citizens in the first couple decades of my church membership. I could not reconcile that attitude with what the Spirit told me, and so I stayed, but feeling a bit like someone walking with a pebble (sometimes a boulder!) in my shoe, but not letting it deter me from moving forward. That impediment is now gone. She, along with our current prophet, Russell M. Nelson have done so very, very much for women, and by extension men, children, and families in the church. To quote Adam S. Miller, "this (church) is where I have found God." Thank you so much for this podcast. If anyone reading is even curious, and wanting to know more, please contact your local missionaries.

Thank you for sharing, Julie. President Nelson is really leading us into new awarenesses and is increasingly doing away with the “traditions of our fathers” that hold us back from the full measure of our creation as children of God on a journey Home via the covenant path that is so much more than we’ve previously discerned.

Priesthood vs specific priesthood jobs. We often call an office priesthood because we are using training wheels. What it really is is the specific keys. The priesthood keys are separate things from the priesthood which is more a product of gifts as a result of faithfully living every covenant.

True light and knowledge about roles and priesthood makes such a significant difference in appreciating this gift and ability.

Recently I was comparing the similarities between childbirth and baptism (being born again) then I thought about how mothers feed babies with their own bodies and men feed people with the body of Jesus Christ through the sacrament. Then I realized that women bring spirits down from heaven and men send them back up.its a beautiful parallel responsibility.

Men send them back up?
@ggrace1133
@ggrace1133 15 күн бұрын
Consider some thoughts the Spirit has brought to mind in my studies regarding your sweet parallel. I long thought as you have. But then the Spirit asks, what of the many women who never give birth and never feed babies with their own bodies. Yet ALL ordained men, whether single and/or never fathers, are able and allowed to feed us the emblems of the Savior’s body to send them back up, as you say. And please, this isn’t about feminism or competition, coveting, or jealousy and envy. Your parallel works up to a point and then literally falls apart by the circumstances I point out. Motherhood is not women’s equivalent of priesthood because so many are never married and/or never able to bear children. Neither is fatherhood priesthood power because all young men who aren’t fathers have the priesthood as well as all unmarried, childless men. The parallel is beautifully well-meaning, but is another assumption Dr. Gardner speaks of here not scripturally based. Please know I say this, not to be contentious in any way or intent. It’s just to share things I, too, once similarly thought as you have but upon continual study, the Spirit has helped me discern how lacking these parallels are. It’s good to be pondering and thinking about every facet of the gospel and I sincerely commend you for it. May we all keep learning, sharing, discussing and growing in a spirit of love.

@ggrace1133 Here are some additional thoughts: Sister Pat Holland taught that "Motherhood precedes maternity". Remember that Adam says he will call his wife "Eve because she is the mother of all living" and God says that is correct. This takes place in the garden long before Adam and Eve are expelled and then are able to have seed. So motherhood is inherent in womanhood, but more particularly in the patriarchal order as the word 'god' is plural, not singular. Just as there cannot be a father without a mother and vice versa, there cannot be a God without a companion --- there must be both husband and wife for Godhood. Another piece of the pondering puzzle.

I'm 50 and had my endowment just 9 years ago.. even in that short of time I've noticed how much younger the crowd is when I go to the temple. I think this generation of young people are able to handle a lot more than previous generations and are also ACTIVELY seeking for more. I feel the young women especially are ready for more revelation and believe that has greatly contributed to some of the new stuff and changes. This stuff isn't really new, in the eternal scheme of things its always been there, but its just that more is being revealed. I'm not a fan of change, but I understand the need for it. And I applaud these young people who are not following the crowds of the world but are following their hearts, souls and personal heavenly revelation for guidance.

I am only in this video just under 8 minutes. I believe we are kindred spirits... Thank you so much for giving words to what I, too, have learned about truth; that it only comes from God. I also had many deep doctrinal questions from a very young age that most of my leaders could not answer. Some would give me their made-up opinion, others would tell me, "Why do you need to know that? Just go be a kid " but very rarely would those people I asked admit that they didn't know. The beauty of this- was that I learned how to go to the right source. I learned from a young age that the Lord will never leave us to the philosophies of men unless we never seek Him. Seek and he shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you... here a little there a little.

Priesthood is very tied to our nearness to God and the covenants through His appointed people. When you ascend... whatever priesthood roll you have, your power in priesthood is a big deal. That's why righteous dominion is there... it's not just about what is lost on the way down but what is gained as we are more like the savior. Gifts follow that humility, repentance, charity, self awareness of our weaknesses, etc. It's all part of the same ascent. This lady... the parts I heard are spot on. A lot of things limit power. Office is another thing... (jobs/callings/keys). But having power through righteousness is what matters most. Not sure how to say what I want to. Hope this is useful, though. I can't wait to see the Revelations on this that will gradually get more and more clear to the general membership in the next decades.

Feminism, as defined by the world, is characterized by pride. “Look at me, look at my power.” That is the total opposite of how Jesus Christ and His true disciples operate. True power comes from making and keeping covenants, obedience, righteousness, and the utmost humility. God wants to give each His daughters great power, as Barbara so beautifully describes. But that power looks nothing like the world’s definition. But God’s power is real power. I would say the world’s power is more fake and definitely temporary. God’s power, which He is so anxious to share with His children, is real power. No one can ever take that power from you as long as you remain obedient and humble, and as long as you are repenting. I am so grateful to know what true power is and where it comes from! This interview was truly life changing for me, I will listen many more times and take notes. Thank you!

All truth comes from God. He taught me truth about the priesthood 20 years ago before we understood what we know now. Great questions and knowing that we need to ask God for truth helps us to understand hard things that so many of us don't understand. God tells us to ask and we will receive. There is always so much more to it than we know, because we don't ask. We can call down the powers of heaven. I have done it and I learned it from the Spirit and early members of the church who also knew it.

As a divorced man, working to raise my kids and teach them the gospel, it is so very challenging without the active support of their mother. She has been passively supportive, allowing me to take them to church, etc. The power that a man and a woman have together is so much more than either separately has. Maybe for the first time, while listening to this exchange, i understood the passage in section 132 about not entering into the covenant of marriage as a promise of blessings to come, not a condemnation for not yet receiving them.

One of my fav quotes: Elder Matthew Cowley taught that “men have to have something given to them [in mortality] to make them saviors of men, but not mothers, not women. [They] are born with an inherent right, an inherent authority, to be the saviors of human souls … and the regenerating force in the lives of God’s children.” - “are we not all mothers” Sheri Dew. We as women are born with our right and authority but men have to have something given to them! This really solidified for me how truly important and divine we are as women and we have a divine power that we are born with in being the saviors of human souls!!!

This makes me think "why is it that man are inclined to protect woman?" (Saying this as a deep thought) as something so precious you protect. I never questioned nor felt less being a woman, but this interview is so important and profound. We woman can hold the priesthood but as mentioned we create in our womb. Our responsibilities and given gifts are of great importance and God intruded us with. Its not that we are better is that we are partners to help carry deferente responsibilities. How many times have I thought,;" I wish I had a clone to help me do all other tasks" but reality is that help is there with the right eternal companion.

Seems understanding priesthood is found in the temple and not so much in Sunday meetings. The fullness of temple blessings are not available either to single men or women. It is not that we are different but that we are indispensable to each other. We’re not from different planets we are vital to the survival on the same whole planet. 5 daughters have taught me this and THIS IS FANTASTIC!

being a current temple worker i have been reminded of the significance of the words and covenants . baptism , initiatory , endowment , sealing..........all these have enormous power in our lives IF , we will let them . !!!!!!! dear sisters ..........IF you remain FAITHFUL to your covenants , you will have ALL the blessings that GOD can give..........that means ALL.!!! just THINK of the women who helped the LORD and the apostles as they traveled from place to place ; joanna , susanna , mary , martha , mary of magdala etc. phebe , priscilla , mary , junia , etc, who were significant in the ministry of Paul . without them , it would have been next to impossible to perform the work the brethren were called to do.

Bruce Porter explains the role of Women, in Old Testament times, calling it a Matriarchal Patriarchy. That's why women like Rebekah & Rachel were able to designate who would have the rights of the firstborn son. Also with Abram & Sarai. Sarai wanted Isaac to have those rghts & Abram had to allow her to send Hagar & Ishmael away. I hope I'm understanding it right.

Much of the time, Ward radio has good to very good content! There is some “channel noise” however that runs counter to the positive very good content. Example is the constant jocular attitudes of disrespect to Church cultural outsiders. This runs counter to endearing non-LDS to the Ward Radio Show & the Church as well. It would be great if more mature manners were practiced on that channel.

Cool. I’m a Latter-day Saint woman. Latter-day Saints LOVE to preach. They love to tell other people what to do. And when we do it? We’re then told we’re doing it wrong, or too much. Or not enough. As a woman, who is temple worthy, with a recommend, who sustains all leaders who are set apart by the priesthood power of God, when I try to assert myself at home with my husband or at church in my calling, or with the bishop or stake president, I’m disregarded. I’m shut down. I’m corrected. I’m stonewalled and talked over. And when I talk about this, I’m told I’m a feminist, an antagonizer, someone who doesn’t respect authority, which couldn’t be further than the truth. What I’m tired of is the authoritarian manner in which members and leaders insist upon interacting and engaging with each other. While they demand members to show up and participate, when we do, we’re prevented and blocked. That means faithful, resilient, willing members will be whackamoled until we lose any hope of being received and permitted to be engaged. And they’ll just shake their heads and cluck their tongues and say, “well, obviously her testimony just wasn’t strong enough. She wasn’t committed enough.”

I have always understood that those who choose not to marry in this life, 9r don't get the opportunity to, and I have known several, that if they are worthy to have a temple marriage in this life and chose not to, or couldn't, they would be offered it after this life. A couple of them didn't love the person who proposed and others were never asked by those who they would have considered. I don't believe that God is so unkind to say that if you said no in this life, or if they never get the opportunity to marry in the temple, you forfeit eternal marriage in the next life. One friend chose to go on a mission over getting married. Her friend married while she was gone and she never married. She never regretted the mission and is sure the Lord will take care of her in the next life.

Priesthood is too often seen as power, and not just authority. It is both. Men need to receive them by being worthy to practice it. Women want that power, living the lie that they do not have power that compares. When they *do*. They are born with it. The power of bearing and raising children is greater in many ways than any man with priesthood. Women are born with it. They have that being under their control, nurturing and influence from conception to death. The sacredness of the reproductive act and child bearing has been lost, even in the Church. This is what we must preach with the Spirit of strength in our families and congregations.

This priesthood power that we now speak of that comes without ordination or any laying on of hands that confers priesthood keys or authority is no different than where the world has claimed it gets its priesthood power. Any power of God manifest in the life of his children is now being defined as priesthood power. Okay, but then we now have to admit that God’s priesthood power is not only limited to Latter-day Saints for I see his power in the lives of so many good people throughout the world. By this novel argument, are we not dismantling a central claim of priesthood authority?
@carjun2
@carjun2 15 күн бұрын
@markstimson983 the lords power works in the lives of good people. However keys to act in using the higher priesthood is given according to responsibilities. A deacon does not have the responsibility of an elder and so does not hold the same keys.
@markstimson983
@markstimson983 15 күн бұрын
@ of course this is the case and it is exactly my point. We lay hands on the head of a deacon and set him apart as a deacon after ordaining him to the Aaronic priesthood. In response to the feminist demand that men and women are equal, we are now making the claim that women have priesthood power without any ordination or setting apart to any office in the priesthood. So, what keys do women hold, just exactly what priesthood authority are we now claiming women are given? On a side note and this is not scriptural at all, but my personal belief is that women must have an inherent priesthood power in their ability to create life. But for the church to now start claiming that women have some priesthood power without any ordination is counter to our narrative and our claim that priesthood power is only bestowed by ordination and in the restored gospel, heavenly messengers, Peter, James, John, and John the Baptist who have priesthood keys restored the priesthood to the earth.
@markstimson983
@markstimson983 15 күн бұрын
@ yes. But there is nothing in any temple ordinance that confers any priesthood. If so, what is it? I mean, can men now go to the temple without any priesthood ordination as only baptism now qualifies us for priesthoods authority? Personally, I have no issue whatsoever that priestesses are ordained to the priesthood and I welcome that change. I also see a perfected priesthood where husbands and wives are called together to fulfill all major church positions. That certainly would be a great bulwark against so much priesthood abuse that is prevalent.

@markstimson983 a feminist about when women are ordained to do washings and anointing of women? I cannot, nor will ever be authorized to have or confer the priesthood offices more excersize their respective duties. But, neither men will ever be able to wash and anoint the sisters, which is an ordinance. Perhaps you are not aware that the early sisters were allowed and encouraged to administer to the sick, and that it was a common practice to wash and anointing a woman before childbirth. In gact formal language prayers were ser up by the early 1900s beginning with: Sis._____ we unitedly lay oir hands upon you to seal thos washing amd anointing.....The policy of how to do so changed and was slowly restricted over 100 yrs until 1946 when then Elder Joseph Feilding Smith sent a letter to RS General Pres. Belle S Spafford telling her to completely discontinue the practice and call the elders instead. This is outlined in detail in an old article by LDS historian Linda King Newell called A Gift Given: a Gift Taken in Sunstone magazine. I have not listened yet to this interview, and I do not consider myself a feminist. I do believe the words of Elder James E Talmage who wrote When the frailties and imperfections of mortality are left behind, in the glorified state orlf the blessed hereafter, husband and wife will administer in their respective stations, seeing and understanding, alike, cooperating to the full in the government of their family kingdom. Then shall women be recompense in rich measure for all the injustice womanhood has endured in mortality... As to the power uses outside the church It is my opinion that it is the Light of Christ which is much more powerful than we suppose. Also people can recieve the influence of the Holy Ghost ie. Columbus, the Founders, those searching for the true and living gospel certainly recieve testimony though him. But they cannot have hos constant influence without Priesthood blessing. Frankly, we live below our privileges Pres Kimball said when I was a teen that we'd been on some plateaus long enough and we needed to move to higher ground Have we, as a people? Pres Nelson keeps encouraging us to Hear Him, Think Celestial, Higher and Holier....we will not recieve the greater light and knowledge until we do, or we will be left behind.

Women are annointed to become a Priestess by the laying on of hands. Both men and women are endowed with power to become an eternal mother and father. So this is parental priesthood, and a woman has the authority to create children and bless and teach them.
