"Prescriptions Without A GP" | Nick Kaye Explains New Pharmacy First Service In UK

Chair Of The National Pharmacy Association Nick Kaye explains the new Pharmacy First Service that will enable community pharmacists to complete episodes of care for patients without the need for the patient to visit their general practice.
This, alongside expansions to the pharmacy blood pressure checking and contraception services, will save up to 10 million general practice team appointments a year and help patients access quicker and more convenient care, including the supply of appropriate medicines for minor illness.
The Pharmacy First Service builds on the previous Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) by enabling community pharmacies to manage patients for seven common conditions, following specific clinical pathways.
Nick says: "This is being launched across England and is the first building block for community pharmacists moving forward".

Will it be 2 pharmacists at least working on a shift ? Because just one cannot do consultations, vaccines and check meds in the same time? As I see from a personal.perspective the system is trying to push the wages of the pharmacist down to lower, but putting more pressure, stress and higher volume of work on them.

it dosen't matter if the patient will wait 1 h to collect their medicine .They also need to feel that we are in a crisis .Unbelievable things are happening ,just one big chaos .

@@CPDCT situation is too complex and i feel that I need to speak about it .I'm working for every company and I have noticed that it has been starting forming separate reality like forming different clumps for every company or region more than ever different than the real world It is not like used to be one standard .Soon i will be checking robotic dispensing because robot is making mistakes .Generally every pharmacy is more busy due to store close .I should be happy of the pharmacy first that I have more power but I'm in constant stress .Main problem is lack of regulations and standards.

You don't need a Dr to obtain a prescription, i for example have been ordering my medication for asthma online for over a year

It’s more money for them so they will welcome it. In my local GP surgery reception staff are like support doctors but without a qualification to their name and they ask all kinds of questions when you try to make a GP app. The NHS is in decline. The most incredible luxurious hospital I ever see was in Kerala, India. Gorgeous place, incredibly clean and furnished like nothing in the UK hospitals. Pay a fee and they see you immediately and the doctors are first rate and actually care. You won’t find an arrogant snob doctor there! In UK, doctors don’t care and that’s why they are so greedy for more and more money when so many are struggling on much less. This is a good move.

Im a Doctor and only took me 10 mins to learn,,,i learnt to be a Doctor by reading Bert Weedons book on how to be a Doctor in 10mins,,,its very good and now i can treat people for all different symptoms and i do amputations on the side
