6:49 "Small World" ... Very small world indeed. I was in the combine with Burke that got him the trial at Charleston over a year ago. I remember watching him play and thinking I definitely need to up my training to play at the level required if that's the type of player I'm going to up against and that he deserves what ever contract or trial he gets from that combine. I was so happy for him when the agency announced his trial at Charleston. I've loosely followed Matt's journey since his Germany days and am trying to start my own journey from the ground thanks to him and the example he's setting. It feels insane to recognize someone on one of these videos for competing with them and not just seeing them from previous videos on the cannel. Hopefully one day I'll be on the pitch going up against Matt himself. lol sorry that sounds too intense

Same bro same, there’s so many players I’ve trained/played against this past year have signed their first contracts. I feel like I’m so close to my first contact as well, it’s no coincidence that I’m seeing/playing against or with players who are at that level

So, we did a very different variation of the standard beep test... it was longer range, no cutting/turning, you had a 5s break between each level, and we started on level 9. I ended up getting to level 22, I think.

Hey Matt I have a question and hope you can give your insight. Lower league gameplay seems like all movement is focused on playing the ball forward and off the ball runs are mostly forward sprints. What makes the lower league play seem more accelerated and rushed than the more elite level where the gameplay feels less accelerated? I would expect players with "less" ability to play a slower more controlled style. I hope my question is clear.
@shantiescovedo43612 жыл бұрын
I have wondered about this as well and have some theories but no certain answer. 1. Fields that are smaller or rougher. 2. Less consistent ball control rewards pressing. 3. The counter to the press is to go long and rely on athleticism and speed. Obviously the problem is that players in such styles do not then develop the close control needed for a higher level of play.
@raymondcervantes62522 жыл бұрын
@@shantiescovedo4361 I think it has more to do with individual ability than any outside factor. I would point to composure being the biggest factor. I've watched younger players play in senior squads and see the difference in body language when receiving and executing a play.
@shantiescovedo43612 жыл бұрын
@@raymondcervantes6252 That makes sense, but a lot of coaches also demand this style from their teams, even in the top leagues.
