Preserved M.A.N SL200 • Overwidth

Built in 1982. bodywork by PMC Adelaide
(Pressed Metal Corporation)
as part of a 140 strong fleet of SL200’s
1812 is now the sole remaining ‘over-width’ SL200 (that we know of) 1801-1870 were overwidth 1871-1930 standard width
including 1931-1940 “831-839-830” being delivered as diesels then later being converted to LPG
and also being the 10 CNG (Compressed Natural Gas units)
1812 was delivered as new to the STA in the familiar silver livery. Based at Elizabeth Depot she operated there for her entire government career. Re-numbered 168 under Serco and painted first into Serco’s ‘blue-rear livery and finally into the familiar Admet. Re-numbered yet again to 2471 under SouthLink and retired in 2007 when bought by Buses R Us, repainted into their livery it was then was numbered 26 and saw further use as a charter bus until late 2011 when sold to become a motorhome. Saved through good fortune by a local enthusiast in 2014 (not the driver in this video)
it has since undergone thorough mechanical repairs as well as an external restoration to represent the late 1980’s STA corporate livery that many such units wore.
