There is a similar tourist light gauge railway in Australia called the Pichi Richi...........at a place called Quorn. The cane tram rail system in north Queensland by comparison is very extensive and works in a commercial capacity, and is non-steam.

Thank you . I appreciate this video so much ! Because I dearly would like to see the narrow gauge trains in the U K . I have read about British steam trains since I was a kid but I do not have time to visit them in England so I will try to view some exported victorian steam next time I am in asia !

@dacartrainguy
@dacartrainguy 3 жыл бұрын

@@dacartrainguy Ferrovia San Paola - Lagonegro?
@dacartrainguy
@dacartrainguy 3 жыл бұрын

Amazing! UK does something right! This stuff is incredible! How does all this get paid for? Tourists? In the US the taxes on the land alone would kill railroads like this.
@theautolad9507
@theautolad9507 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it’s paid partly by the freight the move and some sort of heritage preservation group that the government pay for so they can keep awesome things like this alive 😄 :edit: they also run passenger trains so that will bring some more money in.
@lincoln9996
@lincoln9996 3 жыл бұрын
Most railways over here in the UK are funded entirely by the public, be it through ticket sales or donations. Almost none of these actually carry freight for commercial use, hense why all of the wagons in this video are empty. it's just every now and then they'll pull a train of wagons instead of coaches, as it's something you don't usually see. Hope this helped

Those are general tipper wagons, they were mainly used on small building sites and areas lie, gravel quarry’s and sand quarry’s, they basically have a singular pivot point of which the wagon top moves, making it easier to tip whatever load is in the wagon out
