A collection of slots of demonstration goods trains on narrow gauge preserved lines around the United Kingdom.
We take a look at a variety of narrow gauge locomotives on a mixture of freight stock around Wales and England. Featuring 'Ryam Sugar Company' Davenport 0-4-0 1586 from Statfold Barn Railway visiting the Welsh Highland Railway, where we also see a number of Beyer Garratt NGG16s and the Pioneer Garratt K1 and Hunslet Trangkil No. 4. Visiting the Ffestiniog we see Kerr Stuart 'Diana' (1158), Chuquitanta, Samson (from Beamish) and Maragaret, while home based Hunslet's Hugh Napier, Linda and Blanche are also seen in slate train action. Superb, Joan & Countess are seen on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, while Alice, Holy War and Diana are seen on a variety of freight works. Quarry Hunslets Cloister & Jack Lane are seen at Statfold Barn Railway, alongside Threlkeld Quarry where we also see Irish Mail and Stanhope, amongst other locomotives. Other locations featured include the Isle of Man Steam Railway, West Lancashire Light Railway, Apedale Valley Light Railway and Amerton Railway's.
There is a distinct lack of Ffestiniog Vintage Goods Trains in this volume, next week starts our Narrow Gauge on Saturdays month and the first program will look at Ffestiniog Vintage Goods and Gravity Trains.

There is a similar tourist light gauge railway in Australia called the Pichi Richi...........at a place called Quorn. The cane tram rail system in north Queensland by comparison is very extensive and works in a commercial capacity, and is non-steam.

Thank you . I appreciate this video so much ! Because I dearly would like to see the narrow gauge trains in the U K . I have read about British steam trains since I was a kid but I do not have time to visit them in England so I will try to view some exported victorian steam next time I am in asia !

Amazing! UK does something right! This stuff is incredible! How does all this get paid for? Tourists? In the US the taxes on the land alone would kill railroads like this.

I believe it’s paid partly by the freight the move and some sort of heritage preservation group that the government pay for so they can keep awesome things like this alive 😄 :edit: they also run passenger trains so that will bring some more money in.

Most railways over here in the UK are funded entirely by the public, be it through ticket sales or donations. Almost none of these actually carry freight for commercial use, hense why all of the wagons in this video are empty. it's just every now and then they'll pull a train of wagons instead of coaches, as it's something you don't usually see. Hope this helped

@@lowrangemaniac5326 Ferrovia San Paola - Lagonegro?
@lowrangemaniac5326
@lowrangemaniac5326 3 жыл бұрын

Those are general tipper wagons, they were mainly used on small building sites and areas lie, gravel quarry’s and sand quarry’s, they basically have a singular pivot point of which the wagon top moves, making it easier to tip whatever load is in the wagon out
