Barry Moses, an Adult Basic Ed Instructor at SCC, is racing against the clock to preserve his Spokane tribe's Salish language. A poet, performer, photographer and amateur historian, Barry recently found Chief Garry's original name, Slough-Keetcha, and is intent on capturing the previous generations' knowledge before the keepers of his people's stories die off. In his blog sulustu.blogspot.com, Barry documents his efforts to keep his connection to the past alive. The recipient of the Deccio Excellence in Equity Award, Barry co-facilitates the CCS Intercultural Leadership Program.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
