Anyone who has ever been here understands how important it is to preserve these homes. It's a very special look in a unique setting.

I went to Palm Springs in November and it was cold with the sun out. Definitely recommend visiting and taking the gondola to the top of the mountain.

What type of insulation does this house have? How thick are the exterior walls that are faced with aluminum sheets? Those appear to be fairly thin, based on the dimpling that is noticeable.

The giant Marilyn Monroe statue in itself is worth preserving in Palm Springs. Amazing kitsch artifact.

Unfortunately you cannot tour the inside of the house. It is not ADA compliant (as nothing was back in the day), so the museum cannot open it to the public. No plans to modify it.

I spent many years in and out of this house in the 1970’s - 1980’s when it was on the estate of Wallace Harrison in Huntington NY. It is cool to see it preserved and moved to Palm Springs.

I currently live in Palm Springs California in the process of getting my real estate license and the one thing I will say and put in the atmosphere is that if Frank Lloyd Wright, John Lautner, and all those other great mid-century architects have not inspired me to make my own mid-century organic architecture I don’t know what has.

It looks interesting, but not comfortable or practical to live in. Architects can talk in abstracts about creating new ways of living, but in real life most people want a cozy home that makes them feel warm and proctected. Not to mention the cost of trying to keep a steel roof from rusting and springing a leak. That is probably why it didn't catch on.
