any time you doubt, just do some family history work. It's as if those souls reach out to you as if wanting to impress upon you "I mattered ... I didn't know how much til now... you go now and matter; make the most of your life and spread the gospel".... that's what I feel ... life is short, yet FH makes you ponder the real purpose of life. glad your belief was rekindled:)

I have never really thought much about family history work and I now am curious to know more about it. I wish to gain my own testimony of it and do family history work. I have noticed that on my mom's side of the family a LOT of family history work is done but on my father's side I don't even think any has been done considering my dad is a convert. I would like to begin doing my family history work for my father's side of the family! Thank you so much for sharing this incredible devotional it helped open my eyes to the great importance of families! I bear my testimony that this gospel is true, God is watching over us and is with us and aware of us. Jesus Christ is our savior and if we follow him then his grace will be sufficient for us all. We are loved and we matter to our heavenly father and I so testify in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

As the Bible is written in such a way there are easily as many interpretations of its meanings as there are varieties of churches on the earth. From my perspective those particular scriptures are written as the writer repeatedly states in the perspective of those ‘under the sun,’ as in coming from an earthly point of view. The ideas that there is no ‘knowledge’ or ‘work’ after death, are written as a person without an eternal perspective would see the dead in their graves, and should not be thought as theological facts on what to expect of the soul after death. If a person believes in life after death, I don’t understand why they want to believe we would degenerate from our earthly abilities in the next life.

Joseph Smith and every LDS prophet since him have preached a gospel of “do,” negating the gospel of “done” that Jesus preached and was. The LDS church is all about what it and its members must still do and be if they want to live with God (and be a god) one day. The true church is all about proclaiming what Christ has DONE to make us right with God now for all eternity. It’s a certainty. Jesus Christ canceled the record of debt that was held against us when he shed his blood on the cross, died and rose again. All anyone needs to do is accept Christ by faith. It isn't because of who you are and what you must and can do for God. It is because of who God is and what He did for you in sending Jesus to be the sacrificial offering for your sins. To be your substitute on the cross and to satisfy the demands of God's law that stands against you. Christ has done the one work that was necessary to reconcile you to God. Christ has done the one act of righteousness that could bring justification and life to all men. All Christ is asking with open arms is for you to lay down your religiosity and works at the foot of the cross and allow Christ to take it. Salvation is quite simple. Luke 18 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Well said. But salvation and exaltation are two separate things. You are correct in saying that "Christ has done the one work that was necessary to reconcile you to God." But that reconciliation brings us back into the presence of God to be judged of our works.

@@CalledtoShare Exaltation is for those who humble themselves. Matthew 23:12 12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 14:11 11For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” *** Believers will be rewarded for their works. Believers are already saved. My sins have been forgiven. I have been made perfect because Christ has given to me his righteousness, which is the righteousness of God. I know that I have eternal life and will live forever with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The judgment seat of Christ does not determine my salvation; that matter was settled by Christ’s sacrifice on my behalf (1 John 2:2) and my faith in Him (John 3:16). All my sins are forgiven, and there is “no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24)

@@CalledtoShare Yes. There is a different judgment for unbelievers. The judgment seat of Christ is different from the Great White Throne Judgment. Believers will appear before the judgment seat of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad. ******** Unbelievers will be judged at the Great White Throne judgment. It will be the final judgment of the wicked prior to their being cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). Appearing before the Great White Throne will be unbelievers. Revelation 20 11 And I saw a Great White Throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Most people will not get into heaven. Matthew 7:13-14 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
