@@OlekRahmel Technically, yes, though there are some that point out how being apart for so long and developing differently still has West and East Berlin/Germany divided psychosocially. Germany modernized the East quite a bit, but there are still some problems. You can look up "Berlin from space" and see that the different halves of the city use different-colored lights; infrastructure evolved differently. While capitalism transformed the East, it is a learned skill by the older parts of the population and they aren't quite as good at it as the established westerners. This phenomenon is referred to as "The Wall in the Mind"

His dressers should’ve let his coat out a little before the trip to make it a little less obvious. After surviving the assassination attempt, he was strongly urged to wear body armor at every public appearance. On some occasions, he refused due to its weight, bulk and the heat it produced. For maximum protection, soft body armor in the early ‘80s was very thick. I’m sure he was wearing the equivalent of Level III or IV-A which was at least twice as thick as similar protection is today.

Happy (mostly) memories. As a young 24 year old, I lived in Leipzig for a month in August 1988 to study German and crossed the border many times at Freidrichstrasse and Checkpoint Charlie. One visit back to Leipzig in late 1988 was nearly a disaster. I missed my train back to East Berllin and arrived in the city around @ in the morning. I was terrified as the border closed at midnight and I was travelling illegally on a tourist day visa that limits travel to Berlin only. I had visions of being arrested and locked up for life....I arrived at Friedrichstrasse crossing but it was shut and the city deserted. Stupidly I managed to open the big metal gates into the transit area under the bridge despite the warnings and walked into the crossing area to the astonishment of a young border guard who nearly shot me. I shouted 'Auslander' and waved my British passport at him. Thankfully all ended well but it aged me about 10 years...

Great video! I lived in Germany in '82, not far away in Wolfsburg. That's is the Germany I remember - safe, full of respect, excellent morals, terrific architecture (rather than this post-modern garbage you see today with steel, cement and glass). When I travel back to Germany today, it's like being in another world - not in a good way. You might as well be standing in the middle of Afghanistan. Such an unbelievable tragedy that a country can be so thoroughly transformed and decimated in such a short period of time by the lefties, who take no responsibility for all the heinous crimes being perpetrated by these "peaceful" refugees, who couldn't give a rat's behind about assimilating into Germany. Angela Merkel, and all her idiotic voters, have nothing but blood on their hands every time one of these animals perpetrates a violent crime against an innocent German woman (or man). On one hand I LOVE watching Ronald Reagan over there. On the other hand it is real tough to stomach the level of undeniable destruction that the leftist commies have wrought on a once pure Germany. Simply devastating.

@Eidelmania Oh boy - if you believe for one second that the Architect of the Destruction of Germany, along with her Willkommenspolitik, is within a thousand miles of being a centralist, then you are a completely brainwashed lost hope!!!

@Eidelmania Are you seriously that dimented??? There is no single person on planet earth more responsible for the infiltration of mass amounts of muslims than Angela Merkel - even the hardcore lefties admit this. In fact, the lefties even boast about their highly successful white erasure. What planet do you live on? Have you been to Germany 40 years ago and recently, in order to be in position to make a first-hand comparison? Or are you just going on what your commie leftist professors have fed into your gullible head?
@grazzer1673
@grazzer1673 9 ай бұрын
@Eidelmania She is personally responsible for the utter destruction of Germany - there's nobody else on planet earth even close. A hallmark of the conservatives "right wingers" is to protect your country's history, language, demographics, borders, customs, language, etc. Whereas the leftist hate all of these virtues - they prove it every day. Most of all they're ridden with white guilt and cannot wait to racially transform their populace into a 3rd world cesspool. Thanks to radical leftists like Merkel, they're achieve enormous success. Anybody old enough to have seen Germany 40 or 50 years ago and compare it to today's Germany can see this plain as day.
