I was the Marine seated to the Presidents right. What a great memory. I enjoyed being assigned at Camp and working under a President who was loved by many.

Englishman here. Mr Reagan was my favourite President, he had dignity, style, humility, humour, gravitas, and he showed great respect for The Office of President of The United States of America.

I was assigned to a top secret mission on the day that the president of the united states visited the camp. The mission was washing his food tray and utensils after he was done eating. It was the best mission I have ever been on. RIP Mr. President.

He was a fine person. Very down to earth. Even if you did not agree one hundred percent with him, you had to respect what a good human being he was. He was the right man at the right time in history.

Was security on Marine One and was able to spend some weekends there. President Reagan visited Camp David more than any other president. Almost 200 times. He was always good to his military personnel. On and off camera. He walked up and spoke to me at his ranch helipad waiting for the first lady. Such a humble and kind man.

That means he visited Camp David about 25 times every single year that he was our President! That’s two times EVERY month for 8 years! Wow! When I would hear on the radio or tv back when I was at that young age that he was at Camp David, I had no idea that he was there about every two weeks or so!

I was very fortunate to have served under Ronald Reagan. From what I have been hearing, President Trump is as much if not more for the troops now serving but there is no guarantee for the future.

That may also be because there used to be a time to run for office, and a time to knock off the drama and actually GOVEN. In modern America the campaigning never ends. An election ends, and everybody pivots to the next cycle. There is no time to cool off and come together for the good of the country.

As a Marine who's served from 2009 till today. I can assure you it has changed SO MUCH I don't even recognize our military anymore. It's become soft. The Marines I get now are not nearly as tough as the guys in their 30s.

Back in the Spring of 1988 While working on a road project as a Construction Equipment operator with the Navy Seabees at Quantico Marine Corp Base, President Reagans motorcade drove up and he stopped it to get out and chat with us for a few minutes. He was incredibly down to earth and it spoke volumes about his character that he would stop to chat with us.

@@joeiiiful Negative. Reagan inherited a bad economy from Carter and fixed it. Trump inherited a great economy from Obama, rode on his coattails for 3 years, and flushed it down the toilet. Reagan brought the country together, reached out to his political opposition, provided comforting words during times of national sorrow, and was rewarded with a landslide reelection victory. Trump just spread gas over everything, played only to his base, and got rejected at the polls.

i was stationed in Kuwait when he passed away. ill never forget the moment it was announced...the sun was just rising and i was walking to breakfast.....it almost looked straight outta Star Wars with Luke looking to the sun except the sun was rising not setting and only one sun...i remember saluting the American flag off that same sunrise..wish i had a camera to take a pic of that flag and sunrise....very memorable

Better than today. Today, our chow hall just has many junk food which makes us obese. In the past, I have heard soldiers were well educated in nutrition and fitness than today. If only the leaders and the people today were as loyal and together as we were then. Nowadays we not only have a problem of lack of leadership but also we have a nation of adult children who are so selfish and apathetic that you could not produce a leader to sway their stupidity and shallow minds. I'm happy to have lived through this time but it is bittersweet because it is evident that to imagine us regaining that is a 1 in a trillion chance and a delusion. Call me pessimistic or what you wish but sometimes you gotta wake up and realize the dream is over and reality has returned once again to meet you with its cold and emotionless embrace.
