#RonaldReagan💚 #MundoLibre🗽

Many years ago, rather young, and listening to others instead of the man himself, I realized later than I should have what an intelligent & good man Pres. Reagan was. I have listened for some years now to all his speeches I may, on internet...also have read books (and hear) the many speeches of President Kennedy and find out what fine men they both were. I hope/pray we will have leaders like these two men soon. In 2022 I say this. This a great speech.

This is one of the most beautiful and powerful speeches i have heard in a long time! About the value of freedom and peace. I'm not ashamed to admit i almost teared up at times with Reagan's beutiful delivery about Russia's history and culture and the hope for peace and freedom. How i would have loved to see the US and USSR finally come together in peace after all the decades of conlfict they went through. This being towards the end of the cold war with the Soviet Union undergoing rapid reform and change, finally opening up to things like this. I would have loved to see Gorbachev's reforms succeed and see America and Russia at peace finally.

Bill N How old are you? Gorbachev had intellectual prowess. Reagan, republicans, Washington underestimated Gorbachev; initially thinking that Gorbachev was a typical Soviet mold of old stodgy generic leadership. As soon as Gorbachev became leader of USSR he was on a mission to transform the country into a modern family of the world. Washington was stunned when Gorbachev brought down the Berlin Wall. Absolutely stunned. They didn't trust Gorbachev. They actually thought it was a trick! I remember that. But they were happy later. I was there

As one, well in age "old man" life has shown me that it's not about me, but what I can and should do for others. I stayed lost most of my life searching for the good life and working for something that escaped me. Marriage, companionship, children so full of life, wealth, and friendship, but I had nothing until I was free. After years a hole in my soul was filled in an instance and for good, because of my salvation in Jesus christ. President Reagan, a great man, a great American, still causes a stirring in my heart with his words of peace and strength. We need that so much today. President Trump, in like manor, stirs my heart today and causes me to stop and reflect on that feeling, which brings me to my knees in prayer, for he and his family, my country and we the people. God bless the children of God, Our Flag, our family, and peace to everyone

Look at the photo of Reagan meeting Gorbachev in Iceland. Reagan is 75 years old, standing out in the cold and looking fit and trim in a dark suit. Gorbachev, age 55, is bundled up in an overcoat and fedora hat, long out of style in the USA, and looking stiff. Gorbachev was 20 years younger than Reagan, but looked like an uncomfortable old man. Just like the famous photo of MacArthur, the 60 year old general, with Emperor Hirohito in 1945. MacArthur wears a messy army uniform, but the Emperor looks like a Looney Tunes character in his (long out of style in the USA) pinstripe suit and tailcoat. It showed the Japanese that their old was was obsolete.

I still believe there's hope for this country. All we need is a push in the right direction from a leader who knows what he's doing, just like in 1981.

Naturally, Gorbachev wanted to establish a dialogue between the two countries in order to better understand each other. However, it is strange that he did not understand that this performance at the country's main university meant an ideological collapse for the entire Soviet system. The ideological collapse was subsequently followed by the state one (due to the inconsistency and low quality of the complex of reforms carried out by Gorbachev).

Thank you so much for your great messages Mr President Reagan always will remember and Appreciated the Sentiment of university of Soviet Union and United States of America founded on the fact time for choosing I am found this counsel to be true with faith and sacrifices we support forward throughout the world to make changes for better consequences and don't cause unnecessary stress to each person, President Donald John Trump with power effectively forcing the Republic Government, also we were taught about the plan of salvation during pre-earth life which Jesus Christ our lord 🙏 was chosen as the saviour and the light of the world and that through Him we would be able to overcome the effects of our wrong choices and the important part of our Heavenly father plan was for us to come to earth to received a phisical body and to learn to make correct choices, sometimes we would not remember living in Heavenly father is presence but He give us the ability to know right from wrong. Most Respectfully Oscar Felipe Soliz Pagoada

Unfortunately for Russia Gorbachev wasn't very liked And most Russians were not ready for such radical ideas they were not ready to be friends with the West And a lot of the older generation there Still feel this way but there is a new generation coming up that looks at the West much differently and the future of Russia and there relationship with the West is looking much brighter and hopefully that means that the reign of people like putin will soon come to an end.

Tommy Hallum: Reason why Gorbachev wasn't popular with the Old Guard because he was changing the country. Particularly the Soviet economy. It was antiquated. Gorbachev desired a new change a new direction for young Soviet thinkers. During Soviet times there was a flowering of some openings and a thaw would emerge, but after Khrushchev was ousted; society would reverse back to Stalinist repressions. Here during the middle and late 80's, Gorbachev saw his chance to open up society to the world. Gorbachev was no Leninists/ Stalinist. My impressions of Gorbachev was he wanted democratic type government for Soviet Union, and people. Russians today still believe in Russia. Russians want peace. I distinctly remember that it is true that Russians did some grumbling because home situation didn't improve and remained the same, but Gorbachev was very popular in the world!!!! Including USA. Gorbachev was on a mission. Remember Tianamen Square? Chinese students wanted to see Gorbachev while he was visiting in Beijing. Students built a grand float of 'Goddess of Democracy'. Right there before the communist party's noses. It resulted in the students being killed. Very high casualties
